Seven seats, and the boot behind them

Seven seats is why most people book this car in the first place, usually two captain's chairs in the middle row and a bench across the back. The third row is the pleasant surprise. Most seven-seat SUVs give you a rear bench a child tolerates for twenty minutes and no adult wants twice. Here, grown adults can sit back there for a proper run across town, and the middle chairs slide and tip forward on their own, so nobody climbs over a folded seat to get in.

Heat is the question every renter asks about a cabin this size, and a black interior makes it a fair one. Left in an open lot through a summer afternoon, the dark seats and wheel get properly hot before the system catches up, so expect a few minutes of real effort when you climb back in, not instant relief. Once it catches up, the size stops being a problem. The system pulls two and a half tonnes of cabin down steadily, and rear passengers get their own vents, so the third row isn't living on whatever drifts back from the front two.

Size is the daily trade-off that comes with all of it. At close to 5.4 metres long and just over two metres wide, threading a tight multi-storey without the reversing camera on is asking for trouble, and Marina or Downtown ramps want patience more than skill. Around 203 mm of ground clearance shrugs off speed bumps and steep mall ramps without a thought, but treat that as a comfort figure for the road, not an invitation to go looking for tracks out past the city.
