Rivals sort the rest of the decision. A Chevrolet Tahoe shares the same platform and the same V8 for meaningfully less money, so pick that if the badge doesn't matter to you. A Mercedes GLS drives with more polish and a quieter cabin, but a tighter third row and less occasion inside. Short of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, nothing else in Dubai gives you this much cabin and seven real seats for the money.

Filling three rows, and what's left for luggage

Seven seats, usually two captain's chairs in the middle row and a bench across the back, are the reason most people book this car in the first place. The third row is the one that surprises anyone who's sat in a cheaper seven-seater. Grown adults can ride back there across town rather than folding in for the length of a school run, and the middle chairs slide and tip forward on their own, so loading a fourth or fifth passenger doesn't take a contortion act.

Luggage is where you plan the trip. Behind the third row you get about 722 litres, genuinely large for a three-row SUV and enough for a full airport run with cases for four or five people. Around 203 mm of ground clearance shrugs off speed bumps and steep mall ramps without a thought, though that's a road figure, not an invitation to go looking for tracks out in Hatta.

The case for this Escalade, and the case against it

Book the Cadillac Escalade 2023 if you're moving six or seven people with real luggage, or if arriving in something with this much presence is genuinely part of the trip, a wedding, a corporate pickup, a big family week. Little else in Dubai this side of a Rolls gives you a third row this usable and a boot this size in one car. If you need maximum luggage with every seat full, step up to the ESV. If you want the space without the badge premium, a Tahoe shares the same bones and engine for less.

Skip it if it's one or two of you running errands around the city. You'll spend the week parking a five-metre SUV and feeding a V8 for space nobody's using, when a mid-size crossover does the same job for a fraction of the fuel and none of the parking stress.
