A visiting director steps off a charter at the business terminal, phone already going about the signing meeting downtown, and the car sent to collect him has to look like it belongs on that side of the tarmac. That's the job a black Cadillac Escalade 2023 does well as a Dubai rental: a genuinely large, quiet American luxury SUV for the kind of pickup where the vehicle is part of the impression, not just a ride to the hotel. We deliver it to the terminal, the office or a villa, usually inside one to two hours of booking. What decides whether it's the right call for that run is what the V8 costs to keep fed, how the cabin holds up for a second passenger or an aide, and whether the size works with Dubai parking rather than against it.
Cadillac puts a 6.2-litre V8 in the Escalade, 420 hp and 623 Nm through a ten-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, and it carries close to two and a half tonnes without sounding stretched. On Sheikh Zayed Road it settles into a quiet, unhurried cruise and always has an overtake in hand, which matters more than it sounds when a schedule is tight and a client is watching the clock. It isn't a car you drive hard, and nobody renting it for a boardroom run is trying to. It's a car you arrive in calmly, at speed, with the cabin staying settled over the joints and expansion strips that rattle a cheaper SUV.
None of that makes it nimble. Steering is light rather than sharp, and the length announces itself the second you're merging or looking for a gap. Treat it as built for distance and composure, not for threading a needle, because that's the job it's actually shaped for.
Seven seats, usually two captain's chairs in the middle row and a bench across the back, and the third row is the part that earns the Escalade its reputation. It takes a grown adult on a real run across town rather than the knees-up perch most seven-seat SUVs hide behind the wheel arch, so a second executive, a security detail or an aide travels properly rather than folded into a corner. The middle chairs slide and tip forward on their own, so nobody climbs over a folded seat to get back there.
Behind that third row you get 722 litres, which handles laptop bags, a change of clothes and presentation materials without anyone thinking about it. Fold the back row and it opens to roughly 2,060 litres, and with the middle chairs down too you're near 3,426. The honest limit shows up only when every seat is full and every passenger has a hard case: that combination still leaves a soft bag riding in a footwell. This is the standard-length Escalade, not the longer ESV, so if a group genuinely needs seven full seats and seven full cases together on every leg, the ESV is the one built for that. For executive transport or a family with real but not maximal luggage, this size is right.

The V8 is the honest cost of the seats and the presence. Cadillac's combined figure is 14.7 litres per 100 km, and real Dubai driving, stop-start with the air conditioning working hard, tends to land closer to 17 or 18. The 91-litre tank still buys a decent stretch between fills, but budget the fuel as a real weekly cost, not an afterthought. Salik tolls during the rental are yours to settle, and any RTA fines that land while you're driving pass to you as the renter.
Black paint over a dark cabin is worth knowing before an August pickup. Left in an open lot through the afternoon, the wheel and the seats run properly hot, and the first few minutes back inside are about waiting for the system to catch up rather than driving off cold. Once it does, a cabin this size holds its own. Front vents pull the temperature down steadily, and rear passengers get their own controls, so the third row isn't living on whatever drifts back from the front.
Parking is where the size argues back hardest. At close to 5.4 metres long and just over two metres wide, this isn't a car you thread into a tight multi-storey bay without the cameras on, and Marina or Downtown ramps want patience more than confidence. Around 203 mm of ground clearance shrugs off speed bumps and steep mall ramps without a thought, but that's a comfort figure for the road, not a reason to go looking for tracks out past the city.
Book this Escalade when the car itself is doing part of the job, an airport pickup for a client or a board member, a wedding car, a corporate account moving people between meetings in something that looks the part. The third row that actually seats adults is the real advantage over most rivals in this class, and the black paint reads right for that kind of arrival. If the badge and the occasion don't matter to you, a Chevrolet Tahoe shares the same platform and the same V8 for meaningfully less money. If a smoother, quieter European drive matters more than presence, a Mercedes GLS gets you there, though its third row is tighter and less usable.
Skip it if it's one or two of you running errands around the city. You'll spend the week parking a five-metre SUV and feeding a V8 for space nobody's using. As a premium rental the Escalade takes a refundable deposit, so this isn't a no-deposit booking. Your allowance is 250 km a day, then AED 0.5 for every kilometre past that, and you'll need to be 25 to collect the keys.
