Cadillac Escalade 2022 - start from 854 AED / day

Most full-size luxury SUVs in Dubai want a licence held since 25. This Cadillac Escalade 2022 asks for 21, and that difference matters more than it sounds. It's the reason a groom's best man, a younger corporate driver sent to collect a client, or the oldest of three siblings on a family trip can actually be the one who signs for the keys, instead of getting turned away at the desk while an older passenger takes over. We deliver the car to your hotel, villa or terminal in Dubai, usually inside one to two hours of booking. The lower age limit gets you in the door. What actually decides whether the rental is worth it is the same question as any full-size SUV: does your group fill the seats and the boot, or are you paying for size you won't use.

420 horsepower, and how it handles in Dubai traffic

The Escalade runs Cadillac's 6.2-litre V8, 420 hp and 623 Nm, through a ten-speed automatic sending drive to all four wheels. It carries close to two and a half tonnes without sounding stretched, settles into a quiet cruise on Sheikh Zayed Road, and has an overtake in hand at 120 km/h without needing to wind itself up first. For anyone weighing this against a Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban, the comparison is close, because all three share the same GM platform and the same engine underneath. What you pay extra for with the Escalade is the cabin and the badge, not more mechanical car.

Around town the size is what you're managing, not the power. At nearly 5.4 metres long, it wants the full width of a lane, and the reversing camera earns its place on a Marina tower ramp or in a tight multistorey bay. A Mercedes GLS drives with a lighter, more composed feel if that matters more to you than presence, though its third row is noticeably tighter. Nothing else short of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan gives you this much cabin and seven real seats together.

Who sits where, and what's left for luggage

Seven seats is the layout, two captain's chairs in the middle row and a three-person bench across the back, and the third row is the part that surprises people used to a cheaper seven-seater. Legroom back there is closer to a mid-size sedan's rear seat than the knees-up perch most SUVs hide behind the wheel arch, and the middle chairs slide and tip forward on their own, so nobody's climbing over a folded seat to reach it.

The boot is where you plan the trip. With all three rows up you get 722 litres, enough for four or five full-size cases packed properly. A fifth passenger's bag starts eating into that margin, and a full house of seven people with seven hard cases will end up with at least one bag riding as a soft one on someone's lap. Fold the third row and you're at roughly 2,060 litres, fold the middle chairs too and you're near 3,426. This is the standard-length Escalade, not the longer ESV, so if every leg of your trip means seven adults and seven full cases at once, the ESV is built for that and this one isn't. For six people travelling properly, or seven travelling lighter, the balance works.

Fuel, tolls and how fast a black cabin cools down

Cadillac's own combined figure is 14.7 litres per 100 km, and Dubai's stop-start traffic with the air conditioning working through the heat pushes real-world use closer to 17 or 18. The 91-litre tank still buys a decent run between fills, but treat the fuel bill as a real weekly cost, not an afterthought. Salik tolls collected during the rental are yours to settle, and any RTA fines that land while you're driving pass to you as well.

The cabin is black inside and out on this car, and that's worth knowing before a summer booking. Left in an open lot through the afternoon, the dashboard and seats run genuinely hot, and the first few minutes back inside are more about waiting than driving. Once the system catches up it pulls a cabin this large down steadily, and the third row gets its own vents rather than whatever drifts back from the front, so a full group isn't split between comfortable and suffering. The roughly 203 mm of ground clearance shrugs off speed bumps and steep mall ramps without drama, though treat that as a road figure. This is a cruiser built for the highway and the hotel entrance, not a car built for tracks out past the city.

The right renter for this Escalade, and who should size down

Book it if you're moving six or seven people with real luggage, or if arriving in something this size is genuinely part of the trip, a wedding, a corporate pickup, a big family week where the car does some of the talking. The 21 age limit widens who on that trip can actually be the named driver, which matters more for this car than for most, since a full-size SUV often gets booked by whoever's oldest rather than whoever's driving. If the badge isn't the point, a Tahoe gets you nearly the same drive for less money. If a quieter, more composed European ride matters more than cabin drama, a GLS is the one to look at, with the trade-off of a tighter third row.

Skip it if it's one or two of you running city errands. You'll spend the week parking a five-metre SUV and feeding a V8 for space you never touch, when a mid-size crossover does that job for a fraction of the fuel. Your allowance on this booking is 250 km a day, then AED 0.5 for every kilometre past that, generous enough that a normal city week won't come close to testing it. As a premium rental it takes a refundable deposit, but the age bar to collect the keys is 21, not the 25 you'll find on most cars this size.
