Cadillac Escalade 2022 - start from 881 AED / day

At Dubai International's VIP arrivals bay, or the forecourt of a five-star hotel after dark, half the SUVs idling in line are black, and picking your Cadillac Escalade 2022 out of a row of near-identical black Suburbans, Yukons and other Escalades takes a glance at the plate, not the paint. We deliver this one to your hotel, villa or terminal, usually within one to two hours of booking, so you're rarely the one waiting in that line for long. Black remains the colour most renters ask for on this model, and once you're actually driving it rather than spotting it in a valet queue, the questions that decide the week are different: what the V8 costs to run, how much of the third row you'll really use, and whether a five-metre SUV suits your Dubai roads.

The 6.2 V8, and how it carries a two-tonne SUV

The Escalade runs a 6.2-litre V8, 420 hp and 623 Nm through a ten-speed automatic, sending power to all four wheels. It carries close to two and a half tonnes without any strain you can feel, settling into a quiet cruise on Sheikh Zayed Road with an overtake always in hand rather than something you have to plan for. Adaptive air suspension keeps the ride settled over the city's expansion joints and firms up once you're moving at pace, which matters more here than the horsepower figure does. None of that changed for this generation's engine choice. What you're feeling is a heavy, well-sorted American V8 doing its job quietly, not a sporty SUV pretending to be light on its feet.

Seven seats laid out properly, and the boot behind them

Seven seats, laid out as two captain's chairs in the middle row and a three-person bench across the back, are the reason most people book an Escalade over almost anything else this size. The third row is the genuine surprise. Most seven-seat SUVs give you a rear bench a child tolerates for twenty minutes and no adult wants twice. Here, legroom in the last row is close to what you'd get in the back of a mid-size sedan, and the middle chairs slide forward and tip out of the way on their own, so nobody climbs over a folded seat to get there.

Luggage is the number worth planning around rather than assuming. With all three rows up you get about 722 litres behind the last bench, genuinely large for this class and enough for a proper airport run with cases for four or five people. Fold the third row and that opens to roughly 2,060 litres, and drop the middle chairs too and you're close to 3,400. Seven passengers with seven hard cases at once will still have someone tucking a soft bag into a footwell, because this is the standard-length Escalade rather than the longer ESV. If every trip you take genuinely needs full seating and full luggage together, the ESV is built for that and this one isn't. For six people travelling with real bags, or seven travelling a little lighter, the math works comfortably in your favour.

Running cost, heat and the cabin

The V8 is the honest price of all that space. Cadillac's own combined figure is about 14.7 litres per 100 km, and real Dubai driving runs higher, closer to 17 or 18 in stop-start city traffic with the air conditioning working hard. The 91-litre tank still buys a decent stretch between fills, but treat the fuel bill as a real weekly cost rather than an afterthought. Salik tolls picked up during the rental are yours to cover, and any RTA fines that land while you're driving it pass to you as the renter.

Black cabins are the slower ones to recover here. Left in an open lot through a summer afternoon, the dashboard, the steering wheel rim and the seat bolsters run noticeably hotter to the touch than they would in a lighter interior, so give the system a couple of minutes before you rest a hand on the wheel. It gets there fast once you're moving. The front vents pull the cabin down quickly, and rear passengers get their own vents rather than whatever drifts back from up front, so the third row isn't left waiting on the front two rows to cool first.

Size is the daily trade-off that doesn't change with colour. At close to 5.4 metres long and just over two metres wide, threading a tight multi-storey bay without the reversing cameras on is asking for trouble, and the ramps at Marina and Downtown want patience more than confidence. Around 203 mm of ground clearance shrugs off speed bumps and steep mall ramps without a thought, but treat that as a comfort figure for the road rather than an invitation to go looking for tracks out past the city.

Who should rent this Escalade, and who's better off elsewhere

Book the Cadillac Escalade 2022 if you're moving six or seven people with real luggage, or if a car this size and this badge is genuinely part of the plan, a wedding party, a corporate pickup, a big family week. Nothing else in Dubai this side of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan gives you a third row adults can actually sit in alongside this much presence. If every trip means seven seats and seven hard cases together, step up to the longer ESV instead of assuming this one stretches that far. If the badge matters less to you than the space, a Chevrolet Tahoe shares the same platform and engine for meaningfully less money, and if a quieter, more composed drive matters more than cabin drama, a Mercedes GLS suits you better, with a tighter third row in exchange.

Skip it if it's one or two of you running errands around the city. You'll spend the week parking a five-metre SUV and feeding a V8 for space nobody's using, when a mid-size crossover does the job on a fraction of the fuel. As a luxury rental the Escalade does take a refundable deposit, so it isn't the no-deposit option on our fleet. Your allowance is 250 km a day, then AED 0.5 for every kilometre past that, and you'll need to be 25 to collect the keys.
