Cadillac Escalade 2021 - start from 780 AED / day

We rent the Cadillac Escalade 2021 in Dubai for the renter who wants the full-size American luxury statement without paying the latest-model premium, and you can take it with no deposit tying up your card. This is the fifth-generation Escalade, the one with the big redesign, so you get the modern cabin and the 6.2-litre V8 at a friendlier weekly rate than the newest car on the lot. The argument here is value. If you want the presence, the seven seats, and the V8 soundtrack but don't need the very newest plate, the 2021 gives you almost all of it for less. The thing it asks in return is a healthy fuel budget.

The V8 and the way it drives

Start with the engine, because it's the heart of the car. The 6.2-litre V8 puts out 420 hp and hauls this big SUV to 100 km/h in around 6.6 seconds. That's genuinely quick for two and a half tonnes, and it changes how the car feels: effortless rather than strained. Pull out to overtake on Sheikh Zayed Road and it just goes, no waiting for the gearbox to think.

The 10-speed automatic is smooth and keeps the V8 quiet at a 120 cruise. It rides softly, soaking up Dubai's expansion joints and patched tarmac, and the all-wheel-drive system means it stays planted in the rare wet morning. This is a car built to cover distance in comfort, and it does exactly that.

What it actually costs to run

Here's the honest trade-off behind the lower rate. A 6.2 V8 of this size is thirsty, so expect roughly 14 to 16 litres per 100 km in normal Dubai driving, climbing higher if you're loaded up and stuck in traffic with the AC fighting the heat. The 91-litre tank means you're not filling up constantly, but you'll see the pump more often than in anything smaller. Factor fuel into your week before you book. The Escalade's appeal is presence and space, not economy, and it never pretends otherwise.

Space for people and bags

The redesign gave this generation a much better third row, and it shows. Seven adults fit, and the rearmost two aren't an afterthought: there's real legroom and dedicated air back there. For a group trip or a large family, everyone travels properly.

Luggage is the usual full-size SUV compromise. With all three rows up you've got around 722 litres, enough for soft bags and a few cases but not seven full suitcases. Fold the third row and it jumps to roughly 2,000 litres; drop everything and it's a flat 3,400 litres or so. For an airport collection with the whole family and their cases, use the third row for one or the other, not both, and you'll be fine.

Heat, and cooling a cabin this big

A cabin this large takes real airflow to cool in a Dubai summer, and the Escalade has it. The climate system is strong, and it feeds all three rows through separate vents, so the people in the back aren't baking while the driver's comfortable. Parked in the sun it gets hot like any car here, but a couple of minutes moving and the whole interior comes down to comfortable. With a full load in July, those rear outlets earn their keep.

Parking, ramps and where it goes

At 5.38 metres it's a long car to place, and tight mall bays or narrow Marina ramps need patience and the mirrors. The parking cameras and sensors take a lot of the stress out, and the commanding view forward helps you judge the width. The 203 mm of clearance clears speed bumps and mall ramps cleanly, and with all-wheel drive a graded desert track to a camp is well within its range, though serious soft sand is a job for a dedicated 4x4.

The fine print on Dubai rentals

Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental fall to you, so watch the limits on the E11. A child seat is required for under-fours and we'll fit one on request. We rent from age 18 where much of the market wants 23 on a car this size, and we take debit, cash, and pay-on-delivery as well as cards.

Who it's for

Rent the Escalade 2021 if you want full-size luxury presence and seven real seats but would rather not pay for the newest model year. You get the same V8, the same space, and the same imposing road manners for a lower weekly rate, which is a fair deal if the plate year isn't the point for you.

Look elsewhere if fuel cost worries you or if you're mostly doing short city trips with one or two people, where a smaller SUV is cheaper and easier to park. And if you specifically want the latest cabin tech and screens, step up to a newer Escalade. For presence and space at a sensible rate, the 2021 is the smart pick.
