The BMW X6 2024 is the car you rent when you want a large SUV that looks like nothing else on the school run, and we'll bring it to your door in Dubai within one to two hours, available from age 18 when most desks make you wait until 25 for something this size. The X6 is BMW's coupe-roofed take on the X5: same high seating and road presence, but a roofline that slopes hard at the back for a lower, sportier shape. The xDrive40i runs a 3.0-litre turbo six with mild-hybrid assist and all-wheel drive. This page is about one trade in particular, because the styling that makes the X6 special is also what costs you space, and whether that swap is worth it depends entirely on what you're carrying.
Start with the compromise, because it's the whole character of the car. That falling roofline is the reason to choose an X6 over an X5, and it shapes everything behind the front seats. The boot opening is shallower and the load bay slopes, so tall items don't stack the way they would in a boxier SUV. Two large hard cases plus a couple of soft bags go in fine. A full family's luggage piled high does not. Rear headroom is the other catch: two adults sit comfortably in the back, but anyone tall will feel the roof close in, and three across for a long trip is tight. If passenger and cargo space rank above the look for you, the X5 gives you the same running gear with a proper roofline, and I'd send you there without hesitation.

The turbo six is strong, and the mild-hybrid layer smooths the low-speed stutter you get in stop-start traffic. On Sheikh Zayed Road the X6 is at home. Merging onto the E11 and pulling past a slower truck takes one confident press, and at a steady cruise it's quiet and stable, with the all-wheel drive keeping it surefooted if you catch a gust on an exposed flyover. Push it and the economy drops quickly. Driven gently it's reasonable for the size, but real Dubai traffic with the AC working and a heavy right foot pushes the average up. The 83-litre tank still gives a usable week of range, so for normal city driving and a couple of longer runs you're filling up about once. It takes 95 octane.
Dubai summers sit in the high 40s, and a car left in the sun becomes an oven. The X6's cabin is well sealed and the climate system is strong, so it pulls the temperature down quickly once you're rolling, with rear vents for back-seat passengers. On the worst days, crack the doors for a minute to flush the trapped heat before you set off and you'll be comfortable fast. For the back seats, those rear outlets matter more than people expect when there are kids aboard in July.
At nearly five metres long and just over two wide, the X6 is a big car to thread through Marina towers and packed mall basements. Tight bays and valet ramps need patience, and you'll use the cameras and sensors, which are good. The clearance of around 216 mm clears speed bumps and steeper mall ramps without scraping, so the size is the only thing to manage, not the ride height. On the open road that footprint reassures; in a cramped car park it asks for care. A couple of desk notes: Salik tolls run up automatically at the gantries and are on the renter, as are any RTA fines during the rental, and a child under four legally needs a child seat, which we can fit.
Rent the X6 xDrive40i 2024 if you want a fast, distinctive SUV that turns heads and covers ground easily, you're mostly travelling two-up with a sensible amount of luggage, and the coupe shape is the point. The six is strong, the cabin is a good place to spend a week, and on Dubai's highways it's genuinely satisfying. Rent-from-18 also makes it reachable for a younger visitor who'd otherwise be locked out of a car this size.
Take the X5 instead if you need maximum boot space and full rear headroom, because you keep the same engine and lose nothing but the silhouette. And if you'd rather sit lower and park something easier, a 5 Series or similar sedan is the calmer choice. The X6 trades a slice of practicality for style and pace, and for the right renter that's exactly the deal worth making.
