There's a turbocharged V8 under the bonnet of this BMW X6 2024, and that single fact decides who should rent it. This is the M60i, a 530 hp version of BMW's coupe-styled large SUV that gets to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds while sitting you up high and looking the part on Sheikh Zayed Road. We bring it to your door or the airport in one to two hours and settle payment on delivery, so the keys to a properly fast SUV are easy to come by. The decision this page settles is whether you want raw pace and presence enough to live with a sloping roof, a thirsty engine, and a big footprint to park. If you do, little else feels like this.
The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 is the whole reason this version exists. It makes 530 hp, drives all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic, and hauls a two-tonne SUV to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, with a 250 km/h limiter you'll never legally reach here. The way it delivers that pace is the part you feel daily. A nudge of the throttle and the X6 surges past slower traffic on the E11 with the gearbox already in the right gear. The all-wheel drive keeps it planted through fast curves and on an exposed flyover when the wind picks up. It's quick, but it's also calm with it, which is the trick a big performance SUV has to pull off.

No way around it: a 530 hp V8 drinks. The 83-litre tank is generous, but in real Dubai driving, city traffic with the AC working hard and the odd burst of that engine, expect somewhere around 12 to 15 litres per 100 km. That's a usable 550 to 650 km between fills, so you're probably topping up twice on a busy week rather than once. Drive it gently on a long highway cruise and the figure improves, but if fuel cost is high on your list, this is the version to think twice about. The X6 with the six-cylinder engine sips noticeably less. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental both fall to the renter, so the pace is best enjoyed within the limits.
The coupe roofline is the point of an X6, and it costs you the way it always does. The boot holds 580 litres, which sounds generous, but the load bay slopes and the opening is shallower than a boxy SUV's, so tall items don't stack the way they would in an X5. Two large hard cases and a couple of soft bags go in easily. A full family's luggage piled high does not. Drop the rear seats and you free up to 1530 litres for bulkier gear when you're travelling light on passengers.
Rear headroom is the other compromise. Two adults sit comfortably across the back, but anyone tall will feel the roof close in, and three across for a long trip is a squeeze. If carrying people in comfort matters more than the silhouette, the X5 gives you the same mechanicals under a proper roofline. Child seats are required for under-fours, so flag that when you book and we'll fit one.
This is a big car. At nearly five metres long and just over two wide, the X6 takes care in Marina towers, packed mall basements and valet ramps, and the cameras earn their keep in tight bays. The 210 mm of clearance is the upside: speed bumps, sandy shoulders and steep mall ramps pass without scraping, so the size never feels fragile, just large. On open road that footprint reassures; in a cramped car park it asks for patience.
Cooling is strong, as it needs to be in a glassy cabin that bakes when parked in the high 40s. The climate system pulls the temperature down quickly once you're rolling, and rear vents keep back-seat passengers from cooking. Crack the doors for a minute first on the worst days and it settles fast.
Rent the X6 M60i 2024 if you want a fast, dramatic SUV that turns heads and covers ground hard, and you're mostly travelling two-up with a sensible amount of luggage. The V8 is the event here, and on Dubai's highways it's genuinely thrilling in a way the lesser engines aren't.
Think twice if fuel economy matters or you need maximum space. The six-cylinder X6 gives most of the drama for a lot less at the pump, and the boxier X5 carries people and bags far better for the same money. If you'd rather sit lower and park easily, a sedan is the calmer week. But if outright pace and presence are what you're after, the M60i is the most exciting thing on our X6 shelf, and it knows it.
