Bmw X6 2024 - start from 1,212 AED / day

Payment stays flexible with us, settled on delivery, so you can have the BMW X6 2024 brought to your door in Dubai without sorting anything out in advance. The X6 is BMW's coupe-styled take on a large SUV: you sit high like in an X5, but the roof slopes hard at the back for a lower, sportier silhouette. The xDrive40i runs a 3.0-litre turbo inline-six with a mild-hybrid assist and all-wheel drive, so it's quick and planted. This is the car you rent when you want SUV height and road presence with genuine pace, and you're willing to give up a little space and rear headroom to get the look.

Who this car is really for

The X6 makes the most sense for a driver, or a couple, who care how the car looks and moves more than how much it swallows. Two people up front, the odd rear passenger, a few bags for a week: that's its comfort zone. The six pulls hard and the chassis stays composed at speed. If you're regularly carrying four adults plus their airport luggage, this is the wrong shape, and I'll say so below.

The numbers that matter

SpecBMW X6 xDrive40i (2024)
Engine3.0L turbo inline-six, 48V mild hybrid
Power380 hp
Transmission8-speed automatic, xDrive AWD
0-100 km/h5.4 seconds
Top speed250 km/h (limited)
Fuel tank83 litres
Fuel economyaround 9-12 L/100km in real Dubai use
Rangeroughly 700-900 km per tank
Dimensions (L x W x H)4,960 x 2,004 x 1,700 mm
Ground clearance216 mm
Boot580 L, up to 1,530 L seats folded
Seats5

The table is the reference. What follows is what those figures actually mean for a week behind the wheel.

Pace and how it drives in Dubai

The 380 hp inline-six is the heart of this car. Nought to 100 in 5.4 seconds is plenty for a vehicle this size, and the mild-hybrid layer smooths out the low-speed stutter you get in stop-start traffic. On Sheikh Zayed Road the X6 is in its element. Merging onto the E11 and pulling past a slower truck takes a single confident press, no waiting for the gearbox to think about it. At a steady cruise it's quiet and stable, and the AWD keeps it surefooted if you catch a gust on an exposed flyover.

Push it and the economy drops fast. Driven gently you'll see figures close to the official 8.5 to 9.6 L/100km, but in real Dubai traffic with the AC working and a heavy right foot, expect more like 9 to 12. The 83-litre tank still gives you a usable 700 to 900 km between fills, so on a normal week of city driving and a couple of longer runs you're filling up maybe once.

Boot, space and the sloped-roof trade-off

Here's the honest part. That coupe roofline is the whole point of the X6, and it costs you. The boot holds 580 litres, which sounds generous, but the opening is shallower and the load bay slopes, so tall items don't fit the way they would in a boxier SUV. Two large hard cases plus a couple of soft bags go in fine. A full family's worth of luggage stacked high does not. Drop the rear seats and you get 1,530 litres, enough for bulky gear if you're travelling light on passengers.

Rear headroom is the other compromise. Two adults sit comfortably in the back, but anyone tall will notice the roof close in, and three across for a long trip is tight. If passenger space is your priority over style, the X5 gives you the same running gear with a proper roofline. Want a lower, easier everyday drive instead of the high SUV seating? A 5 Series or similar sedan is the calmer choice.

Heat, parking and the desk details

Dubai summers sit in the high 40s, and a car parked in the sun turns into an oven. The X6's cabin is well sealed and the climate system is strong, so it pulls the temperature down quickly once you're rolling, with rear vents for back-seat passengers. Crack the doors for a minute first on the worst days and you'll be fine.

The size is worth thinking about. At nearly five metres long and just over two wide, the X6 is a big car to thread through Marina towers and packed mall basements. Tight bays and valet ramps need patience, though the 216 mm of clearance clears speed bumps and steeper mall ramps without scraping. On the open road that footprint reassures; in a cramped car park it asks for care.

A few practicalities. Salik tolls run up automatically at the gantries and those are on the renter, as are any RTA fines during your rental. Child seats are required for under-fours, so flag that when you book. Airport runs to DXB or DWC are easy, and the boot takes a couple of large cases, just not a full crew's worth piled to the ceiling.

The verdict

Rent the X6 xDrive40i if you want a fast, good-looking SUV that turns heads and covers ground quickly, and you're mostly travelling two-up with a sensible amount of luggage. The six is strong, the cabin is a nice place to spend a week, and on Dubai's highways it's genuinely satisfying. If you need maximum boot space and rear room, take the X5 and keep the same engine. If you'd rather sit lower and drive something easier to park, a sedan will serve you better. The X6 trades a slice of practicality for style and pace, and for the right renter that's exactly the deal worth making.
