Audi RS Q8 2022 - start from 1,250 AED / day

Strip away the badges and the Audi RSQ8 2022 and the Lamborghini Urus are the same car underneath. Same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, same eight-speed automatic, same quattro all-wheel drive, built on the shared MLB Evo platform that also underpins the Bentayga and the Cayenne. Audi tuned its version differently and wrapped it in grey bodywork that doesn't draw a second look at a hotel drop-off, then rents it here in Dubai for a fraction of what the Lambo badge costs. We get it to your door within one to two hours of booking. The real question isn't whether this car is quick enough, it obviously is, but whether you want the Urus underneath without paying for the Urus theatre on top.

The twin-turbo V8, and how it drives

The hardware alone would embarrass most sports cars. A 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance sends 591 hp and 800 Nm through an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic to permanent quattro all-wheel drive, good for 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Top speed sits at 250 km/h electronically limited, though a car fitted with the optional RS Dynamic package raises that to 305 km/h. Confirm which one you've got at the desk before you plan anything ambitious on the airport road.

What Audi did with that hardware is the interesting part. Where the Urus leans into drama, loud exhaust notes and a cabin that wants you to notice it's fast, the RSQ8 is tuned tighter and more precise, closer to a fast estate than a supercar wearing an SUV body. The adaptive air suspension is doing most of the work here. It drops and stiffens the moment you commit to a corner or a fast lane change on Sheikh Zayed Road, then softens back up the second you're cruising, so a car pushing well past two tonnes never feels like it's fighting its own weight. Mid-range torque is the party trick day to day: overtaking on the E11 barely registers as an event, the car is already past before you've finished checking the mirror.

That precision has a cost. Firmer suspension than a standard Q7 means Dubai's rougher back streets and expansion joints come through with more edge than a comfort-tuned SUV would allow. It's the trade every RS car makes, and on a week that's mostly highway and valet parking, it's an easy one to accept.

Five seats, a real boot, and the width that matters

Five real seats is what separates this from an actual supercar and puts it close to what the Urus offers for less money. Four adults sit properly, not folded into a bench meant for two, which matters on a DXB run with a full car and everyone's bags. The boot takes 605 litres with the seats up, roughly one large case each for four people plus soft bags, and folding the rear bench flat opens that to 1,755 litres if you're hauling something bulkier for a day trip.

Width is the number that actually plans your week, not ground clearance. At just under two metres across without the mirrors and just over five metres nose to tail, this isn't a car you nose into a tight Marina tower ramp on autopilot. Fold the mirrors, take the sharp mall U-turns slowly, and let the cameras do the rest. The air suspension raises on command for speed bumps and steep ramps, so ground clearance rarely becomes the limiting factor here. It's the car's footprint, not its underside, that decides where it fits.

Fuel, Salik and a cabin built for the heat

Grey paint helps a little in a way black never does. It doesn't absorb heat the way a dark RSQ8 does after two hours in an open lot, so the cabin starts from a slightly better place when you climb back in. It still needs real air conditioning to do the rest, and this car has it: four-zone climate control gives the back row its own temperature instead of waiting on whatever drifts from the front, and ventilated front seats pull heat out of the upholstery within a minute of the AC kicking in. It's a genuinely usable cabin on a July afternoon, not one you tolerate because the badge is worth it.

Fuel is where this car asks something back. The 85-litre tank runs on premium petrol, and Audi's own combined figure of around 13 L/100km is optimistic once Dubai traffic, AC load and this engine's throttle response get involved. Plan on filling up more than the brochure number implies over a week of normal driving. Salik tolls during the rental are the renter's responsibility, and any RTA fines pass through the same way they do on every car on our fleet.

Who should rent it, and who should look elsewhere

Book the Audi RSQ8 2022 if you want Urus-level pace and the same underlying platform without wanting to be the loudest car in the valet queue. It handles the school run, a four-adult airport pickup with full luggage, and a confident overtake on the highway equally well, and in grey it reads as understated rather than showy.

Look at the Urus instead if the attention is actually the point, you're paying for the same drivetrain with a louder exhaust and a badge people photograph. If ride comfort matters more to you than outright pace, a standard Q7 or a Range Rover rides softer and costs less to run. And if your week needs seating for six or seven, this car doesn't have a third row, it seats five. As a performance SUV, the RSQ8 rents against a refundable deposit confirmed at booking rather than a no-deposit option. Your allowance is 250 km a day, extra kilometres cost AED 0.5 each, and you need to be 25 to take the keys.
