Audi RSQ3 2021 - start from 737 AED / day

Few rentals on our fleet make a first impression like the Audi RS Q3 2021, and yes, we deliver it across Dubai with 250 km a day built into the rate. What you're really renting here is the engine. The 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo has a warble nothing else in this class can copy, and it shoves a compact crossover to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The point of this page is simple: the RS Q3 is a pocket rocket you can park at a mall and run errands in, so long as you go in knowing the ride is firm, it drinks when you push it, and the back seat is fine for two rather than three adults.

What you're actually getting

This is the full-fat RS, not a regular Q3 with a body kit. The 394 hp five-cylinder drives all four wheels through a quattro system and a seven-speed automatic, so traction off the line is never the problem. You point it at a gap on Sheikh Zayed Road, squeeze the throttle, and the overtake is done before you've finished thinking about it. The noise is the headline act. That offbeat five-cylinder firing order gives it a sound closer to an old rally car than a modern turbo four, and it's the single reason most people book this car over a quieter, cheaper crossover.

It still works as an SUV, though. You sit higher than you would in an RS3 hatch, the view out is good for city traffic, and there's a real boot behind you. For a week of driving that mixes a fast highway blast with normal daily running, it covers both jobs without feeling like a compromise.

How thirsty is it, really

Audi's combined figure is around 8.9 L/100km, and on a relaxed cruise to the airport and back you'll see something close to that. The catch is that nobody rents this car to drive it gently. Use the performance even half the time and real-world consumption climbs well past the brochure number, because a 2.5-litre turbo making 394 hp does not sip fuel when you're chasing the noise.

With a 63-litre tank, a careful week of mixed city and highway driving might mean two fill-ups. Drive it the way it wants to be driven and you'll be back at the pump more often than that. Plan on premium fuel, and treat the official economy figure as a best case rather than what you'll average.

Boot, seats and who fits

The 530-litre boot is genuinely useful and one of the reasons to pick this over a hot hatch. Two large cases plus a couple of soft bags slot in for a DXB or DWC airport run, and folding the rear seats opens up 1525 litres if you're moving more than people.

The cabin is where you size up honestly. Up front it's excellent. The back is comfortable for two adults or a couple of kids, but three across the rear for any distance is a squeeze, and the sloping, sporty design eats a little headroom. Two adults and two children with a week of mall runs fits fine. A fourth adult plus everyone's luggage is the point where a larger SUV makes more sense.

Living with it in Dubai

The firm RS suspension is the trade-off for the body control. On the smooth stretches of E11 it's planted and quiet, but over patched road and the city's speed bumps you feel more than you would in a softer crossover. It sits lower than a standard Q3, so take steep mall ramps and tall bumps at a sensible angle rather than charging them. Parking is easy enough; this is still a compact SUV that slots into normal multi-storey bays and handles tight U-turns without drama.

The AC earns its keep in summer. After a car has sat out in 45-degree heat the cabin is brutal for the first minute, but the front vents pull it down quickly and the smaller cabin volume means it cools faster than a big seven-seater would. Set it low, give it a moment, and it holds temperature well on the move.

A few standing rules: Salik tolls are billed to the renter, and any RTA fines, including the speed-camera ones this car makes very easy to collect, pass to you after the rental. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat. Stricter security terms may apply on a car like this, so confirm the details when you book.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the RS Q3 if the engine is the point. If you want supercar-baiting pace, that five-cylinder soundtrack, and a higher driving position with a boot you can actually load, nothing else in the compact-crossover bracket gets close, and we'll have it at your door in one to two hours.

Skip it if you're carrying four adults and full luggage, or if a comfortable, soft-riding daily is what you're after. For a calm family week, a regular Q3 or a roomier SUV will treat you and your passengers better, and you won't be paying for performance you never use. Book the RS Q3 for the noise and the speed, go in clear-eyed about the firm ride and the fuel bill, and it's one of the most entertaining cars on the fleet.
