Audi Q8 e-tron 2024 - start from 1,023 AED / day

Big, coupe-styled luxury SUVs are a particular kind of rental, and the Audi Q8 2024 is one of the cleanest examples you can drive away in Dubai. We hand it over with the no-deposit option, so the full security amount doesn't sit blocked on your card for the week. Think of this as the flagship-feeling Audi for two adults or a small family who want presence and a plush cabin more than a third row of seats. The sloping roofline costs you some practicality against the boxier Q7, and the size shows up in tight car parks and at the pump. What you get back is a five-seat SUV that looks and feels like a statement, on Sheikh Zayed Road or pulling up at a hotel entrance.

Who this car is actually for

This is a couple's car or a small-family car, not a people-mover. Two adults up front, two kids or two more adults behind, and everyone travels in comfort. The rear bench is genuinely roomy for the outer two seats, less so in the middle for a tall adult on a long run. If you need to seat six or seven, this isn't your Audi. The Q7 shares much of the mechanical hardware and adds a usable third row, and it's the sensible pick for bigger groups. The Q8 trades that flexibility for the coupe roofline and the road presence that comes with it.

So the question that decides this rental is simple. Do you want the look and the cabin, and can you live with five seats and a sloped boot? If yes, few cars at this size feel as special.

Power you'll feel, fuel you'll pay for

The 3.0-litre V6 with its mild-hybrid setup makes 340 hp and shifts a car this heavy to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. On the E11 that means overtaking is instant and effortless, and merging into fast traffic never feels like a gamble. The eight-speed automatic is smooth and quattro keeps all of it planted at speed. This is a car that's relaxed at 120 and has plenty in reserve above it.

The honest trade-off is fuel. A petrol V6 hauling more than two tonnes will sit around 11 to 12 L/100 km in real Dubai driving, more if you're stop-start in town a lot. The 85-litre tank gives you a long cruising range, so on a week of mixed driving you're realistically filling up once, maybe twice if you're covering big distances. Petrol here is cheap by global standards, but go in expecting a thirsty engine, not an economy car.

Heat, the cabin, and a Dubai summer

A large cabin takes longer to cool than a small hatchback, that's just physics, and in July a Q8 parked in the sun gets brutally hot inside. The good news is the air conditioning is strong and there are rear vents, so once it's running, all five seats cool down properly within a few minutes. My advice is the same one I give every guest in summer: start the engine, drop the windows for ten seconds to dump the worst of the heat, then close up and let the AC do its work. The cabin itself is a genuinely nice place to wait while it cools, with soft materials and a quiet, well-insulated feel that holds up at 45 degrees outside.

Parking, ramps, and living with the size

At nearly two metres wide and just under five long, the Q8 is a large SUV, and you feel that in older multi-storey car parks and on tight Marina ramps. Mirror-fold and the surround cameras help a lot, but a snug bay still takes care. Where the air suspension earns its keep is over speed bumps and on steep mall ramps. You can raise the ride height when you need clearance and drop it back for the highway, so the nose doesn't scrape the way a fixed low car would. For a vehicle this size and weight, it's surprisingly easy to thread through everyday Dubai driving once you've judged the width.

Boot space and the airport question

The boot holds 605 litres, which is a lot until you remember the coupe roofline. The floor area is fine, but the sloped tailgate cuts into how tall a load you can stack. For two people on a week's trip, two large cases plus cabin bags go in easily with room to spare. For a family of four heading to DXB or DWC with full luggage, it works, but you'll be loading more carefully than you would in a square-backed Q7. Fold the rear seats and the space jumps to 1,755 litres for bulkier loads. If maximum luggage height is the priority over style, that's the one mark against the Q8.

A few Dubai rental basics

Salik tolls run on your account through the rental, and any RTA fines during your hire pass to you, so stick to the limits and the lanes. Seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can fit on request. None of this is unusual for Dubai, but it's worth knowing before you set off.

The recommendation

Rent the Q8 if you're a couple or a small family who want a luxury SUV with real presence and a cabin that feels like an occasion, and you don't need more than five seats. It's excellent on the highway, plush in the heat once cooled, and it turns heads at the hotel door. Be clear-eyed about the two costs: it drinks petrol like the big V6 it is, and the coupe roof trims practicality versus a square SUV. If you need seven seats or maximum boot height, take the Q7 instead. If you mainly want city errands and lower running costs, a smaller SUV makes more sense. But for style and comfort across a Dubai week, the Q8 delivers exactly what it promises.
