Most large luxury SUVs ask you to choose between road presence and an easy life in Dubai's car parks, and the Audi Q8 2024 is one of the few that lets you have both, partly thanks to its adjustable air suspension. We hand it over at your hotel or villa within an hour or two, with card, cash, bank transfer and the major wallets all accepted at checkout. This is the flagship-feeling Audi for two adults or a small family who want a plush, quick, head-turning SUV more than a third row. The coupe roofline costs you some boot height, and a 3.0-litre V6 hauling more than two tonnes is never cheap to feed. What you get back is a five-seat SUV that feels like an occasion on Sheikh Zayed Road and at the hotel door.
The 3.0-litre turbo V6 with its mild-hybrid setup makes 340 hp and moves this heavy car to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. On the E11 that translates to instant, effortless overtaking, and merging into fast traffic is never a gamble. The eight-speed automatic shifts cleanly and quattro keeps everything planted at speed, so it's relaxed at 120 with plenty held in reserve above it.
The honest trade-off is consumption. A petrol V6 of this size sits around 11 to 12 litres per 100 km in real Dubai use, more if you're crawling in town a lot. The 85-litre tank gives a long cruising range, so a week of mixed driving usually means one fill, maybe two if you're covering big distances. Fuel is cheap here by global standards, but book this expecting a thirsty engine, not an economy car.

This is the feature that makes a car this size livable in Dubai. The adjustable air suspension lets you raise the ride height for a steep mall ramp or a community speed bump, then drop it for the highway, so the nose doesn't scrape the way a fixed low SUV would. At nearly two metres wide and just under five long, the Q8 is still a big car, and snug bays in the older Marina and Downtown towers take care even with the surround cameras and mirror-fold helping. But once you've judged the width, it threads through everyday Dubai driving more easily than its footprint suggests, and the raised setting takes the anxiety out of the bumps that catch low cars out.
A large cabin takes longer to cool than a small hatch, that's just physics, and a Q8 parked in July sun gets brutally hot inside. The saving grace is a strong climate system with proper rear vents, so once it's running all five seats come down to comfortable within a few minutes. The habit I give every summer guest is the same: start the car, drop the windows for ten seconds to dump the worst of the heat, then close up and let the AC work. The cabin is a genuinely nice place to wait while it does, with soft materials and a quiet, well-insulated feel that holds up at 45 degrees outside.
The boot holds 605 litres, which sounds generous until the coupe roofline gets involved. The floor area is fine, but the sloped tailgate limits how tall a load you can stack. Two people on a week's trip fit two large cases plus cabin bags easily, with room to spare. A family of four heading to DXB or DWC with full luggage manages too, but you'll load more carefully than you would in a square-backed Q7. Fold the rear seats and you get 1755 litres for bulkier items. If maximum luggage height matters more than the roofline, that's the one real mark against the Q8.
Salik tolls run on your account through the rental, and any RTA fine during your hire passes to you, so stick to the limits and the lanes. Seat belts are required in every seat, and a child under four needs a proper child seat, which we can fit on request. The 250 km a day included covers normal use, with extra distance at 4 AED per kilometre on big highway days.
Rent the Q8 2024 if you're a couple or a small family who want a luxury SUV with real presence and a cabin that feels like an event, and you don't need more than five seats. It's excellent on the highway, comfortable once cooled, and the air suspension makes the size far less of a chore than you'd expect. Be clear-eyed about the two costs: it drinks like the big V6 it is, and the coupe roof trims practicality against a square SUV. If you need seven seats or maximum boot height, take the Q7. If city errands and low running costs are the priority, a smaller SUV makes more sense. But for style and comfort across a Dubai week, the Q8 delivers what it promises.
