Audi Q7 2024 - start from 649 AED / day

A two-litre four-cylinder in a five-metre SUV sounds like a mismatch, but the Audi Q7 2024 is the seven-seater we rent out to families who don't want to feed a V8 for a week in Dubai. We bring it to your door in one to two hours, and the surprise of the car is how little it drinks for its size. This page is about one decision: whether a big premium SUV makes sense for your week here once you factor in fuel, parking and how seven seats actually work day to day. Our short answer is that for a family of five or six who want space and quiet without a thirsty engine, this is the easy pick.

What the engine costs you to run

The 252 hp turbo four with its mild-hybrid system is the headline. On paper it looks light for a car this big, but it never feels it. The Q7 reaches 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and merges onto Sheikh Zayed Road without you planning the overtake. The mild hybrid coasts with the engine off in stop-start crawl, which is exactly where a heavy SUV usually wastes fuel.

The combined figure sits around 10.7 litres per 100 km, and real Dubai use with the AC fighting the heat will push it a little higher. With the 85-litre tank that's roughly 700 to 800 km between fills in mixed driving. A normal week of school runs and a couple of airport trips means one or two stops, not a station visit every other day. For a full-size SUV, that's genuinely reasonable, and it's the reason we keep recommending the four-cylinder over the bigger engines for most renters.

Seven seats, and where the luggage goes

The third row is usable, not a token gesture. Two adults fit back there for a 40-minute airport run, and kids will happily live in it for the week. The catch is the boot. With all seven seats up you're down to about 385 litres, which takes soft bags and backpacks but not a set of hard cases. So seven people plus a full week of airport luggage at the same time is the one combination that doesn't work.

Fold the third row and the boot opens to a proper estate size that swallows the weekly shop and several large cases. That's how most of our renters actually run it: five seats, big boot, third row up only when extra people arrive. Drop the second row too and you're near 1928 litres for a furniture run. The middle row slides, so you trade third-row legroom against boot space depending on who's aboard that day.

Cooling it down after a day in the sun

A car this size that's baked in an open mall lot is a real test of the AC, and the Q7 passes it. There are vents for all three rows, so the cold air actually reaches the kids in the back rather than stopping at the front seats. The front blowers pull the cabin down from oven temperatures within a few minutes of driving off. Park in shade where you can and it recovers faster, but even after an afternoon in the open at 45 degrees it gets comfortable quickly. Those rear and third-row outlets are the difference between a happy back seat and a miserable one on the drive home.

Parking the size and riding the bumps

At nearly two metres wide and just over five long, the Q7 is a big thing in a tight Marina multi-storey. The bays feel narrow and the corkscrew ramps want patience, so lean on the cameras and sensors. Once you've got the measure of it the visibility is good and it turns better than the length suggests. On open mall parking and hotel valet it's a non-issue.

The quattro all-wheel drive keeps it planted in a crosswind on the E11, and the roughly 210 mm of clearance clears speed bumps and steep mall ramps without scraping. This is a road and tarmac SUV, comfortable and surefooted on the highway, not a dune machine. For soft sand you'd want a proper off-road 4x4, but for everything a Dubai week actually involves it's well sorted.

A note on what you cover

Salik tolls are billed to you as you pass the gantries, and any RTA fine during your rental passes to the renter as well, so stay within the limits on the E11. Seat belts are mandatory in every row, and a child under four needs a child seat, which we can fit before delivery.

Who should rent it

Rent the Q7 2024 if you're a family of five or six who wants premium space, a quiet cabin and the third row on standby, without paying for a big engine you don't need. The four-cylinder mild hybrid makes a full-size SUV cheaper to run than its size suggests, and that's its strongest argument.

If it's just two of you doing city errands, this is more car than the week needs, and a smaller crossover will park easier and cost less. And if you genuinely need seven seats and a full load of hard luggage at once, plan to fold a row or step up to a larger people-mover. For most families looking at a week in Dubai, though, the Q7 is the comfortable, sensible answer.
