Older model years are where the Audi Q7 makes the most sense as a rental, and the 2021 car is the one we point families to when they want three rows of genuine luxury without the newest-year premium. We bring it to you in Dubai with flexible payment accepted on delivery, so the booking part stays simple. The Audi Q7 2021 is a big, quiet, full-size SUV with a smooth turbocharged engine and real seven-seat space, and that is the case this page makes. It rides beautifully on the highway and swallows a family with luggage, but it asks you to be honest about two things first: where you'll park it, and how often you'll stop for fuel.
This is the second-generation Q7, a seven-seat luxury SUV in the full-size class. The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine sends 252 horsepower through an eight-speed automatic to Audi's quattro all-wheel drive, so power reaches all four corners without you thinking about it. It is brisk for its size, 0 to 100 in 6.9 seconds, and the quiet cabin and long wheelbase matter more in daily Dubai use than the 233 km/h top speed you'll never legally reach. It feels planted at a steady 120 on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Yes, and this is the Q7's strongest argument. The third row is usable, not a token pair of jump seats, so older kids and average-height adults can sit back there for an airport run or a day trip without complaint. For longer journeys the second row is the comfortable place, and the third row earns its keep on the school-and-friends shuttle.
The trade-off is luggage. With all seven seats up, the boot behind the third row is modest, fine for a few soft bags and a grocery run, not a week of hard cases for seven people. Fold the third row and you get a deep, flat 890-litre load space that takes several large suitcases easily, which is the setup most families actually drive: five people, third row down, plenty of room for a DXB or DWC airport pickup with bags. Need seven seats and a full luggage load at once? Plan a roof box or a second trip. Drop both rear rows and you have over 2,000 litres.
Here's the honest part. Audi quotes 7.3 l/100km combined, and you will not see that in Dubai. Short hops with the AC fighting 45-degree heat, plus a two-tonne body, push real-world consumption a long way north of the brochure, often into the low-to-mid teens around town. The 75-litre tank still gives comfortable range, so on a normal week of city errands and a couple of highway runs you're filling up maybe twice, not living at the pump. If low running cost is your priority, though, this isn't the car, and a smaller two-row crossover will cost less to feed. Rent the Q7 because you want the space and the refinement, and accept the fuel appetite that comes with a large luxury SUV.
The cabin cools fast, which is exactly what you want when the car has been baking in a mall car park. Three rows of vents mean the back seats actually get cold air, not just the front two, so kids in the third row aren't left to suffer on a July afternoon. Park in shade where you can and the system pulls a hot cabin down to comfortable inside a few minutes.
A few local points to keep in mind. Salik tolls run on your account during the rental, and any RTA fines from the drive pass to you, so stick to the limits on the E11. Seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can arrange. None of this is unusual, it's just how driving works here.
The Q7 is over five metres long and just under two wide, and you feel every centimetre of it in a tight Marina basement or a packed mall bay. Surround cameras and parking sensors take most of the stress out, but a narrow multi-storey ramp or a sharp U-turn still asks for patience. Speed bumps and standard mall ramps are no problem with the everyday ground clearance, and the quattro system handles a beach approach or a graded track confidently.
What it is not is a dune car. The Q7 is a road-biased luxury SUV, not a body-on-frame 4x4 with low-range gearing. Light off-road and firm sand are fine. Soft desert dunes are not, and you'll want a proper Land Cruiser or Wrangler for that.
Book the Q7 2021 if you're a family of five to seven who wants premium space, a hushed cabin and confident highway manners, and you like that an older model year keeps it sensible on cost. For airport runs, hotel-and-mall weeks, and intercity drives to Abu Dhabi or Al Ain, it's a genuinely comfortable way to move people and bags.
Look elsewhere in two cases. If it's just two of you doing city errands, a smaller two-row luxury SUV is easier to park and cheaper to run, so size down. And if your week is built around real dunes, skip the Q7 and take a proper off-road 4x4. For everyone in between who needs space without giving up refinement, this is the one we'd hand you the keys to.
