The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace 2021 is the seven-seater we hand to families in Dubai who need a third row some days but not every day, and we rent it with a no-deposit option so a bigger car doesn't mean a bigger hold on your card. The Allspace is the longer-wheelbase Tiguan, stretched specifically to fit two extra seats, and that's the whole point of choosing it. If your week involves visiting relatives at the airport, school runs with friends piled in, and the occasional six or seven up for dinner, this is the car. If it's just four of you and luggage, you'll want to know what that third row costs you in boot space. This page sorts out which group you're in.
The headline is the 2-3-2 layout: seven seats across three rows. The honest part is who fits where. The two seats in the back are best for children or for adults on short hops across town, not for a long highway haul to Abu Dhabi. The middle row is full-size and slides, so you trade legroom between rows depending on who's sitting where. For the common Dubai use, four or five in comfort with two folding chairs in reserve for the airport pickup or the extra kids, the Allspace is exactly right. Treat it as a flexible seven, not a fixed one, and it earns its keep.

The numbers are reference. What follows is how they play out over a week here.
This is where you decide between the Allspace and a five-seat crossover. With all seven seats up, the boot drops to 230 litres, which holds a couple of soft bags and the weekly shop, not a stack of suitcases. Fold the third row flat and you're back to around 700 litres, which is a proper family boot: a week's luggage for four, a pram, the beach gear. Drop the middle row too and it opens up past 1,700 litres for a flat-pack run. The takeaway is simple. Use it as a five-seater and the boot is excellent. Use all seven and pack light, or do the airport run in two trips.
A big cabin takes longer to cool than a hatch, and in a Dubai July that matters. The good news with the Allspace is that the climate system has the rear vents and the third-row outlets to push cold air all the way back, so kids in the boot row aren't left baking while the front gets comfortable. Parked in open sun the whole car bakes, and you'll want a minute with the AC on full before everyone climbs in. Once moving it settles. For a family carrying passengers in every row through the worst of summer, that ducting to the back is worth more than any single spec line.
At 4,728 mm the Allspace is noticeably longer than a standard Tiguan, and you feel it in tight multi-storey bays and on Marina ramps. It's not unwieldy, but it asks for a bit more care reversing into a narrow space, and the parking sensors do real work here. What the size buys you is 201 mm of ground clearance, which is genuinely useful. Speed bumps, the steep lips on mall entrances and a graded desert track to a campsite are all no trouble, and with 4MOTION sending drive to the rear when grip drops, light sand and gravel are within reach. This isn't a dune basher, but it handles far more than a front-drive crossover will.
The 2.0 TSI and seven-speed DSG make the Allspace easy on Sheikh Zayed Road. There's enough turbo punch to merge and overtake with a full load aboard, and the gearbox is smooth in stop-and-go traffic between Business Bay and the suburbs. On the 58-litre tank you'll see roughly 500 km of mixed range, so a busy week of school runs and airport trips means one or two fill-ups. As the renter you cover Salik tolls on the gates you cross and any RTA fines from the drive. Child seats are required for under-fours, which is worth planning if the back rows are full of little ones, and we can fit one on request.
Rent the Tiguan Allspace 2021 if you genuinely use the extra seats, even occasionally, and you want one car that does the school run, the airport collection and the weekend trip without renting a full-size SUV. The flexible seven seats and the 4MOTION clearance make it the practical middle ground, bigger and more capable than a five-seat crossover, easier to live with than a large body-on-frame 4x4. Skip it if it's only ever four of you. A standard Tiguan or a five-seat crossover parks easier, drinks a little less, and gives you the same boot you'd get here with the third row folded anyway. And if you need to seat seven adults in comfort for long highway runs, size up to a full three-row SUV. For the family that needs seven now and then and five most days, the Allspace is the sensible call.
