Need seven seats in Dubai without the fuel bill of a big SUV, the Toyota Rush 2023 is one of the cheapest ways to do it, and we can have one at your door in one to two hours. It rides tall, clears speed bumps and mall ramps with 220 mm under the floor, and parks like a much smaller car. What it is not is a powerful family hauler. The 1.5-litre engine and four-speed automatic are tuned for thrift, not pace, and the third row is best thought of as occasional. This page is about whether that clearance-and-economy trade suits your week, or whether you should look bigger.
The Rush sits high. At 220 mm of ground clearance it shrugs off Dubai's aggressive speed bumps, the steep lips on mall and Marina car park ramps, and the raised driveways that make low sedans scrape. You're not crawling over every hump, and you get a clear view over traffic from the tall seating position. That height is the Rush's real city advantage.
Be honest about the limits, though. It's rear-wheel drive with no low-range gearing and no off-road hardware, so soft sand and proper desert tracks are out. The clearance is for confidence over urban obstacles and graded tracks to a campsite, not for dune driving. For Hatta trails or the sand, you want a real 4x4. For everything a normal Dubai week throws at the suspension, the Rush copes well.

With 103 hp the Rush is fine for everyday speeds and a light load. Two adults and a couple of kids around the city, and it never feels short of breath. The four-speed automatic is old-school but smooth in stop-and-go traffic, which is most of what you do here.
Load all seven seats plus bags and the picture changes. The engine works audibly to build speed onto a fast slip road, and overtaking on Sheikh Zayed Road needs planning rather than a quick stab of the throttle. Above 100 it cruises but doesn't have much in reserve. Treat it as a relaxed city and suburb car that handles the occasional E11 run, not a confident highway overtaker.
The third row is why you'd pick a Rush over a hatchback, so know what you're getting. Those two rearmost seats are sized for children or short hops, fine for the school run with extra kids or a ten-minute drive to dinner, but not somewhere to put an adult for an hour. The middle row is comfortable for grown-ups.
Folding the third row flat is where the Rush gets genuinely useful, opening up 514 litres of square load space that takes two or three large cases. With all seven seats up, the space behind them holds little more than a couple of soft bags. So the airport setup that works is five people with the rear seats folded, or seven people travelling light. Arriving at DXB or DWC with seven passengers and a full set of suitcases is the one thing the Rush can't do at once.
This matters from May to September. After an hour parked in the sun the cabin sits well above 45 degrees, and a tall SUV cabin takes a little longer to pull down than a small hatch. The front vents are strong and bring the front rows to comfortable within a few minutes of driving. Drop the windows for the first minute to dump the trapped heat, then let the AC work. Airflow to the third row is weaker, so on the hottest afternoons give it a head start with the fan high before you load the kids in.
The small engine is the whole point: around 13 km/L in the city and closer to 16 on the highway from a 45-litre tank means a week of school runs and errands rarely sends you back to the pump, and fuel here is cheap anyway. That economy is the strongest practical reason to rent one.
A few Dubai basics apply as with any rental. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your hire are billed to you, seat belts are required in every seat, and a child under four needs a proper child seat, which we can fit before delivery.
Rent the Rush 2023 if you're a budget-minded family who wants real ground clearance, a tall view of the road and seven seats for the days you need them, all with running costs closer to a hatchback than an SUV. For city living, school runs and easy clearance over Dubai's bumps and ramps, little else this cheap does the job.
Size up to a proper midsize seven-seater like a Toyota Innova if you regularly carry five adults plus luggage or want a third row adults can sit in for an hour. Go for a true 4x4 if the desert is on your plan, because the Rush's height doesn't make it a dune car. And if it's just two of you running around town, you're paying for seats and height you won't use, so a hatchback saves you money. For the family in the middle, the Rush is one of the smartest small rentals we run.
