Booking a Toyota Rush 2023 in Dubai is about as low-friction as a rental gets with us: there's a no-deposit option, we take debit cards and pay-on-delivery as well as the usual cards, and you can rent from 18 when most desks make you wait until 21. The Rush itself is a seven-seat economy SUV that costs about as much to run as a small hatchback. Our honest argument here is that it's the value pick for a family that needs the extra seats sometimes but doesn't want to pay big-SUV fuel and rental rates. It has real limits, and the sections below are about whether those limits matter for your week.
A 1.5-litre engine and a 45-litre tank give the Rush its main selling point: you rarely stop for fuel. Reckon on roughly 13 km/L in city traffic and nearer 16 on the highway, which stretches a tank across 600 to 700 km of mixed driving. A week of school runs, mall trips and the odd longer drive usually means one fill-up, maybe two. Against a thirsty midsize SUV that's a clear saving, and combined with the no-deposit booking it keeps the whole week cheap. That's the case for renting one.

Seven seats is the headline, but the rows aren't equal. The front and middle rows are genuinely comfortable for adults. The two rearmost seats are a kids' bench, good for children on the school run or grown-ups on a short hop to dinner, not for putting an adult back there on a run to Abu Dhabi. Most renters end up using it as a roomy five-seater and only raising the back two when the extra heads turn up. If your seven travellers are all adults expecting space, this isn't the car.
With all three rows up, the space behind the third row is tiny, enough for a few soft bags or the weekly shop. Fold the rearmost seats flat and you get 514 litres, a square load bay that takes two or three large cases comfortably. So the workable airport setup is five people with the third row down, or seven people travelling light. You can't carry seven passengers and a full pile of checked luggage at the same time. That single trade-off is the main reason to size up to a bigger seven-seater, and it's worth being clear-eyed about before you book for an arrival at DXB or DWC.
Around town the Rush is easy to live with. You sit high with a clear view over traffic, the steering is light, and at 1,695 mm wide it slips into tight Marina and multi-storey bays a larger SUV has to fight for. The 220 mm of ground clearance means speed bumps, raised driveways and steep ramp lips don't make you wince. With 103 hp it pulls cleanly at city speeds.
On the highway, expect competence rather than confidence. Lightly loaded, the Rush cruises happily on the E11. Pack in seven people and bags with the AC fighting the heat, and the engine and four-speed gearbox work hard to hold pace, so overtaking takes planning. It's a city and suburb car that copes with a highway run, not a long-haul cruiser. Being rear-wheel drive with no off-road gear, it's a road car too, so leave the soft sand to a proper 4x4.
Dubai summers settle this for every rental. After an hour in the sun the cabin is oven-hot, and a tall SUV interior takes a touch longer to cool than a small hatch. The front air conditioning is strong and brings the front and middle rows to comfortable within a few minutes once you're moving. Airflow reaches the third row less directly, so on a 45-degree afternoon park in shade where you can, run the windows down for the first minute to clear the trapped heat, then let the system catch up before the kids climb in.
Salik toll gates charge automatically and those tolls are the renter's responsibility, as are any RTA fines that arrive during your hire. Children under four need a proper child seat by law, which we'll fit before delivery. None of this is unusual here, but it's worth knowing before you set off.
Rent the Toyota Rush 2023 if you want the cheapest sensible way to carry up to seven people for a week in Dubai, with the flexibility of no deposit, debit cards, pay-on-delivery and rent-from-18. For a family of four or five who needs the extra seats now and then, it's hard to beat on running cost.
Look at a larger seven-seater such as a Toyota Innova or Kia Carnival if you're regularly seven adults, or if you're arriving with a full load of people and luggage together, because the Rush can't do both at once. And if it's just two of you, you're paying for seats and height you won't use, so a hatchback is the smarter spend. For the value-minded family in between, the Rush is one of the best-priced rentals on our fleet.
