We hand over the Toyota RAV4 2024 across Dubai with 250 km of daily driving already built into the rate, which on a compact SUV is the figure that decides whether a week of airport runs and weekend trips stays simple or turns into a meter-watching exercise. This is the dependable, roomy all-rounder of the segment: a five-seat AWD SUV with a big boot, a high seating position and the kind of Toyota reliability that means you spend the week driving rather than worrying. It's comfort-led rather than sporty, and it's five seats, not seven, so the rest of this page is about whether that fits your trip.
Think of this as the safe middle of the SUV range. For two adults, a couple of kids and a full week of mall runs, beach days and a drive out to the east coast, the RAV4 has the space, the ride and the visibility to make all of it easy. The raised hip point alone wins it a lot of bookings; getting children in and out and loading bags is just less of a fight than in a low sedan.
What you don't get is sharpness. The 2.0-litre petrol pulls cleanly and the automatic is smooth, but this is a relaxed cruiser, not a car that rewards a heavy right foot. If you want pace and drama, look elsewhere. If you want a car that does everything competently for seven days and never surprises you, that's exactly the RAV4's job.

The table is reference. The paragraphs below are where those numbers actually earn their keep.
Yes, comfortably, which is the RAV4's strongest practical card. The 580-litre boot swallows two or three large hard cases plus the soft bags and strollers that come with them, so a family arriving at DXB or DWC isn't playing luggage Tetris in the arrivals lane. Drop the rear seats and you've got a near-flat load floor for the bulky stuff, a mattress topper, a bike, the week's grocery hauls from a Costco-style run.
For four adults with full-size suitcases each, it works but the boot fills up. That's still better than most sedans in the class, and it's the line where the RAV4 starts justifying itself over a smaller hatch.
Dubai summers sit in the mid-40s, and the real test of any rental is how fast the cabin recovers after a few hours in a mall car park. The RAV4's AC is strong and pulls a baking interior down to comfortable within a few minutes, helped by rear vents that keep passengers in the back from cooking on the school run or the airport drive. Park nose-out where you can, crack the windows for the first thirty seconds to dump the worst of the trapped heat, and it settles quickly. The larger cabin takes marginally longer to cool than a small hatch, but the rear vents more than make up for it when you've got people in the back.
At 4.6 metres the RAV4 is a compact SUV, not a barge, so it slots into standard multi-storey bays and threads Marina and mall ramps without the breath-holding a full-size 4x4 demands. The high seating position and good glass make tight reverse bays and the city's endless U-turns easy to judge. Ground clearance of 195 mm clears Dubai's aggressive speed bumps and steep mall ramp transitions without scraping, which sounds minor until you've heard a low car's underbody grind on the way out of a basement.
The 55-litre tank paired with real-world economy around 7 to 8 L/100km in city-and-highway Dubai driving gives you a genuine working range of roughly 650 to 700 km. For most renters that's the full week on a single fill, maybe a top-up if you do back-to-back airport runs or a long east-coast day. The AWD and the SUV body mean it drinks a little more than an economy hatch, so budget for that, but you're not chained to the pump either.
On Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 the RAV4 cruises at the national limit relaxed and quiet, with enough in reserve for safe overtakes. It runs out of enthusiasm well before it runs out of speed, so plan your passes rather than expecting a sudden surge. The AWD adds surefootedness in summer downpours and on light desert tracks and graded sand near the dunes, but this is a soft-roader; serious dune bashing belongs to a proper body-on-frame 4x4, not a RAV4.
A few Dubai basics: Salik tolls are charged to you as the renter, and any RTA fines during your hire pass through to you, so watch the camera-zoned stretches of SZR. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can fit on request.
Rent the RAV4 2024 if you want one car that handles the whole Dubai week without drama: a couple or a small family who need real boot space, a high view, strong AC and Toyota dependability, and who value comfort over cornering. It's the sensible value pick of the compact SUV class.
Size up to a seven-seat SUV like a Prado or Highlander if you're carrying six or seven people, or three rows of kids and gear, because five seats is a hard limit here. Size down to a hatch if it's just one or two of you doing short city errands and parking is your main concern. For everyone in between, the RAV4 is the easy, low-risk choice, and that's exactly why it books out.
