Toyota Raize 2023 - start from 122 AED / day

We rent the Toyota Raize 2023 across Dubai, and you can take it with no deposit, just a small fee at checkout instead of a held block on your card. It's a tiny subcompact SUV, so what you're really paying for is a higher seat and crossover looks on a small-car budget. That suits a solo driver or a couple running city errands and the odd airport pickup. Where it earns its keep is parking, fuel and the easy view out. Where it doesn't is four adults, luggage and long highway pulls. This page is here to tell you which of those you are before you book.

A higher seat without the bulk

The Raize is short. At 4030 mm long it's roughly the footprint of a city hatchback, but you sit up at SUV height with a clear view over traffic. That combination is the whole point of the car. You get the commanding seating people want from a crossover without dragging a big body through Dubai's tight multi-storey bays.

For one or two people it's genuinely comfortable. The front seats are fine for an hour in traffic, and visibility is good in every direction, which matters when you're reversing into a narrow Marina bay. Put two adults in the back and it gets snug fast. Knee room behind a tall driver is tight, and three across the rear is a short-trip arrangement at best.

The table is the reference. The rest of this page is what those numbers actually mean for a week in Dubai.

Parking and the daily grind

This is where the Raize is at its best. The short body and light steering make it one of the easier cars to thread into a packed mall garage or a tight residential bay. U-turns take less road than you expect, and you're not sweating the wing mirrors on a narrow ramp.

Ground clearance is 200 mm, which is more than most hatchbacks carry. Speed bumps, raised driveway lips and the steep ramps into older buildings don't make you wince. You won't scrape the nose on the entry to a sloped basement car park the way a low sedan can. That clearance is for road obstacles and bumps, though, not for sand. The Raize is front-wheel drive with no proper off-road hardware, so leave the desert and soft tracks to a real 4x4.

Fuel, the tank and how often you'll stop

The 1.0L turbo three-cylinder is built to sip. Toyota quotes economy up to 18.5 km/L, and in mixed Dubai driving you'll see real numbers that are very good for a car this height. The catch is the tank: at just 36 litres it's small. That still gives a useful range, since light consumption stretches a little fuel a long way, but you'll fill up a touch more often than a car with a bigger tank.

For a week of city errands that's a non-issue. You're looking at one fill, maybe two if you're commuting daily from the outer communities. The turbo also means the engine isn't gasping at low revs the way the older naturally aspirated small cars did, so around town it feels livelier than 97 hp suggests.

The honest highway verdict

This is the part most rental listings skip. The Raize is a city car wearing SUV clothes. On Sheikh Zayed Road or out on the E11 it cruises fine at the limit, and it'll sit at highway speed all day without drama. What it won't do is overtake with authority. Ask for a quick burst past a truck at 100 and up, and the small turbo and the CVT both make you wait. You plan your passes rather than just stamping on it.

If your week is mostly within the city with a few highway stretches, that's perfectly liveable. If you're doing daily long runs to Abu Dhabi or constant fast overtaking, you'll want more engine.

Heat, AC and the Dubai realities

In a June afternoon a parked Raize bakes like any car here, and at 45 degrees the cabin is unpleasant for the first minute or two. The upside of a small cabin is that there's less air to cool, so the AC pulls the temperature down quickly once you're moving. Front cooling is strong. Don't expect rear vents or any climate luxury at this level, but for one or two people up front it copes with a Dubai summer without complaint.

Two operating facts worth knowing. Salik tolls run on your account while the car is with you, and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, so watch the speed cameras. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat.

Luggage: does it actually fit?

The boot is modest, as you'd expect from the footprint. Behind the rear seats you'll fit one large suitcase plus a soft bag or a couple of backpacks comfortably. That's the honest limit for two people with airport luggage. Need to carry a second big case, you fold part of the rear seat down, which means losing a passenger seat. For a solo traveller or a couple on a short DXB or DWC run it's enough. For a family of four with a week of cases, it isn't.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Raize 2023 if you're one or two people who want an easy, frugal, high-seated car for city life and light airport hops. It parks anywhere, sips fuel, handles speed bumps and ramps without fuss, and the no-deposit option keeps the booking simple. For that brief it's one of the smartest small rentals in Dubai.

Size up if you're carrying four adults regularly, hauling more than one big case, doing daily highway distance, or planning anything off the tarmac. In those cases a larger crossover or a sedan will serve you better, and you'll spend less of the week wishing for more room and more power. Match the car to the trip, and the Raize is hard to beat at its job.
