Suzuki Vitara 2023 - start from 176 AED / day

The Suzuki Vitara 2023 is the cheapest way to rent a real SUV in Dubai rather than a hatchback wearing SUV body cladding. We deliver it to your door or to DXB in one to two hours, with debit cards, cash and pay-on-delivery all accepted. What you're paying for here is ride height: 185 mm of ground clearance and a tall driving position that make speed bumps, mall ramps and graded tracks easier than any economy hatch manages. It's a five-seater with a frugal 1.5 and an automatic, so it stays cheap to run. Our take: rent it for the clearance and the view out, not for power, because there isn't much of that.

Why the height is the point

Most economy crossovers in Dubai sit barely higher than a hatch. The Vitara genuinely doesn't. At 185 mm of clearance it shrugs off the speed bumps in residential clusters, the lips at mall entrances and the steeper multi-storey ramps without you slowing to a crawl or wincing at the underside. The high seat puts your eyes well above the traffic, which makes the daily commute on crowded roads less of a guessing game.

That clearance also opens up the kind of light off-tarmac a renter might actually do here: a graded desert track to a campsite, a sandy car park near the beach, a rough lane out toward Hatta. It's front-wheel drive, so this is not a dune car and you shouldn't take it into soft sand. For everything short of that, the height does real work.

What the 1.5 will and won't do

The engine is a 1.5-litre petrol making 103 hp through an automatic gearbox. Around town that's enough. It pulls away cleanly, keeps up with traffic and handles the daily run without complaint. The honest caveat is the highway. On Sheikh Zayed Road or the E11, merging at speed and overtaking a loaded truck need planning, because there's no spare punch above 100. It cruises at the legal limit comfortably; it just doesn't sprint to get there. If your week is mostly fast intercity driving, a more powerful car is worth the step up. If it's city running with the odd highway stint, the 1.5 is fine.

How often you'll fill up

The 47-litre tank is the number that matters for a week here. Drive mostly in the city and you'll see real economy around 16 km per litre, less when you sit in Marina traffic with the AC working hard. That still puts a tank close to 700 km of normal running, so a week of errands and a couple of airport runs to DXB or DWC won't have you hunting for a station mid-trip. The small, efficient engine is the trade-off for the modest power, and on running cost it pays you back.

Parking and city size

At 4.18 metres long the Vitara is compact and easy to place. Tight bays, narrow older car parks and U-turns are all straightforward, and the upright body and tall glass make the corners easy to judge. It's an SUV you can park like a small car, which is most of its appeal in a city this dense. The clearance that helps over bumps also means a slightly higher step up into the seats, worth knowing if you're lifting kids or older passengers in and out daily.

Boot space and whether your luggage fits

The boot holds 375 litres with the seats up, which is genuinely useful for the class. Two people with a large case each plus soft bags fit without a fight, enough for a week's stay or an airport collection for a couple. Fold the rear seats and it opens up to 1160 litres, flat enough for a flat-pack run or a big shop. Where it gets tight is four adults with full-size suitcases all at once. For that load every day, look at a larger SUV. For most rentals here, the Vitara's boot is honest and adequate.

Staying cool in the heat

This matters from May through September. Parked in the sun at 45 degrees the cabin gets brutally hot, and what counts is how fast it recovers. The Vitara's AC pulls the temperature down quickly once you're moving and the front vents hit hard. Give it a minute with the doors shut and the front seats are comfortable. The cabin is on the smaller side for an SUV, which actually helps the cooling, but it also means back-seat passengers rely on that front airflow reaching them, so on a long midday run with the car full, expect the rear to lag the front a little.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Vitara 2023 if you want a true SUV ride height and an easy view out at an economy price, and your driving is mostly city with some light track or beach-car-park use. It's the right pick for a couple or a small family who value the clearance and the upright seating over outright pace. Look elsewhere if you need real highway muscle for daily E11 runs, if you carry four adults with full luggage routinely, or if you want to take on soft sand, which needs a proper four-wheel-drive. Within its lane, this is the most car for the money in the economy class, and the height is what you're really renting.
