Picture a Saturday-night pull-up to a Downtown hotel forecourt, the valet stand full, and the door that swings open hinged at the back rather than the front. That is the Rolls-Royce Wraith 2020, and it rents in Dubai as the Rolls you drive yourself rather than sit behind. We bring it to your hotel, villa or terminal, usually within one to two hours of booking, black paint over a 6.6-litre V12 and a very long bonnet. This page settles one decision: whether a huge two-door coupe built for presence and the drive suits your occasion, or whether you'd be better served by something with four usable doors.
Most people meet a Rolls-Royce from the back seat. The Wraith is the exception. It's the fastback of the range, a two-door coupe with a long sloping tail and those rear-hinged coach doors everyone photographs, and it was built to be enjoyed from behind the wheel. Under that bonnet sits a 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 making 624 hp, driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic that reads the road ahead from satellite data and picks its gear before the corner arrives. It reaches 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, which for a car this size and weight feels faintly absurd.
The point isn't the numbers. It's how the Wraith delivers them. No drama, no downshift kick, just a long deep surge as the V12 gathers the car up and pushes it down Sheikh Zayed Road with the cabin near silent. Overtaking is instant and effortless. This is a grand tourer in the old sense, made to cover distance in comfort and arrive looking like an event. Rolls-Royce stopped building the Wraith a few years ago, so the 2020 car sits firmly in the final era of the model.

The cabin is the reason the Wraith costs what it does to rent. Deep leather, milled metal and wood, and where the car carries the Starlight Headliner, a roof lined with hundreds of tiny fibre-optic points overhead. It's a genuinely special place to sit, front or back.
Space needs honesty though. This is a 2+2, not a four-seater in any real sense. Two adults ride up front in complete comfort. The rear pair are shaped for actual people rather than tokens, better than most coupes manage, but the sloping roof cuts headroom and a tall adult behind a tall driver will be folded in for anything longer than a cross-town hop. Treat it as a superb two-seater with occasional rear space for shorter passengers or kids. The boot holds 470 litres, wide but shallow under that fastback tail, so it swallows a couple of soft bags and a weekend case rather than a full airport load for four.
Heat is the real July question, and a dark car with a large glass roof soaks up a Dubai afternoon. After a long park in 45-degree sun the first few minutes ask a lot of the climate system. It pulls the cabin down steadily rather than instantly, but the air conditioning is strong and reaches the rear seats properly. If you're collecting someone for an occasion, have the car started and cooling before they climb back in.
Here's where renters underestimate the Wraith. It's over 5.4 metres long and nearly two metres wide, and those coach doors are enormous, rear-hinged and heavy. In a tight Marina tower bay or a mall multi-storey you need clearance on both sides just to open one and get out, and swinging it into the car parked alongside is exactly the contact you don't want on something worth this much. Plan the parking. Valet where you can, take the end bay where you can't, and treat U-turns and ramps gently, because the long body and low nose won't forgive a fast kerb.
The value is what sits with you the whole drive. Kerbing a wheel or brushing a pillar isn't a scuff you shrug off here. Keep it on tarmac and well clear of sand and unlit kerbs.
Running it isn't cheap either. The 82-litre tank takes premium fuel and the V12 drinks it, so expect regular stops across a week of city driving. Salik tolls and any RTA fines pass to you as the renter, seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat. Because this is one of the most valuable cars we hand over, a substantial refundable deposit applies rather than a no-deposit deal, and you need to be at least 25 to take the keys.
Rent the Wraith 2020 when the occasion calls for presence and you want to be the one driving. A landmark birthday, an anniversary, a shoot, or simply a weekend where a two-door V12 Rolls parked outside is the whole idea. Nothing we hand over makes an entrance quite like it, and the 250-kilometre daily allowance covers occasion driving around the city comfortably, with extra distance at AED 0.5 a kilometre if a day runs long.
Look elsewhere if you need to move four adults with luggage, or if the back seat is where you actually want to be. A Ghost or a Cullinan does the chauffeured-comfort job far better, and if you want the same badge with usable rear doors, a four-door saloon is the sensible pick. The Wraith is built for one or two people, an occasion, and the drive between the valet stands. Rent it for that, mind the doors and the kerbs, and it delivers exactly the arrival you booked it for.
