Most people expect a car like this to punish you the moment the road gets ordinary. The 2024 BMW M4 doesn't, and that's the reason we rent it more often to people who actually want to drive their own car for a week than to anyone chasing a weekend photo. We deliver it to your door anywhere in Dubai within one to two hours, keys in hand, so you're not stuck arranging a depot visit before you've even started. What this page is really about is simple: whether a 510 hp coupe makes sense as the car you live with all week, not just the one you book for a Friday night.
We rent the M4 from 18, and it's the kind of machine that flatters a confident driver and exposes a nervous one, so that age limit comes with a quiet word of advice rather than a wink.
The M4 here is the Competition-grade coupe: a 3.0 litre twin-turbo straight-six driving all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic, 510 hp, 0 to 100 in 3.7 seconds, limited to 250 km/h. On paper that reads like a track toy. In practice the all-wheel-drive system is what makes it usable on a normal Tuesday. Put the power down at a green light on a damp underground ramp and it just goes, no drama, no scrabbling front tyres. That traction is the difference between a car you respect and one you can relax in.
The straight-six is the heart of it. It pulls cleanly from low revs, so you're not forced to chase the redline to feel quick, and around town you can drive it like any other automatic and never think about it. The pace is there the instant you ask. The rest of the week, it sits in the background.

This is where the M4 earns its keep, and where it asks something of you in return. On Sheikh Zayed Road it's in its element. Overtaking is instant, the car sits planted at a steady 120, and there's a deep reserve of pull for the moments when a gap opens and closes fast. Cruising, it's quiet enough to hold a conversation.
The ride is the honest catch. This is a firm sports coupe on big wheels, and Dubai's speed bumps and patched side-road seams come through clearly. Around the villa communities and on older surfaces you'll feel the road. It never crashes or feels broken, but if your idea of a holiday car is a soft sofa on wheels, this isn't that. The trade you're making is sharpness for plushness, and on the right stretch of road it's a trade worth taking.
Two notes that come straight from how the UAE works. Every Salik gate you pass and any speed or fine the cameras catch are billed to you as the renter, and the M4 finds the speed limit faster than almost anything else we hand over, so watch the cameras on the E11. Seat belts are required in every seat, front and back.
Dubai parking and a 45 degree afternoon are the real test, and the M4 handles it better than most performance cars its size. The cabin is compact, which works in your favour: there's less air to cool, so after a few minutes baking in a mall lot the front vents pull the temperature down quickly once you're moving. Set it before you walk away if your unit supports remote start, and you'll climb into something close to comfortable rather than an oven. The two rear seats get less direct airflow, which matters less here because of who actually sits back there.
The M4 is wide. At nearly 1.9 metres across the body, plus mirrors, it fills a standard bay and then some, and the tighter multi-storey ramps in Marina take a bit of patience and a careful line. The nose sits low, so approach steep mall ramps and lips at an angle rather than straight on. None of this is a dealbreaker, but a first-timer should plan for it rather than be surprised by it.
Inside, treat it as a strict two-seater with occasional backup. The rear seats take kids or a short hop for adults, not a comfortable airport run for four grown-ups. The boot swallows a couple of soft bags or one medium case plus a carry-on, which suits a couple for a week far better than a family with hard luggage.
Fuel is the running cost to budget for. At roughly 10 litres per 100 km on the combined figure, real Dubai driving with the air conditioning fighting the heat and the occasional enthusiastic overtake will sit higher, and that twin-turbo six wants 98 octane. The 59 litre tank gives you a sensible range, but you'll visit the pump more often than you would in a sedan, and the premium fuel adds up over a week.
Rent the M4 2024 if the drive is the point. If you want supercar pace you can actually use every day in Dubai, a car that's quick out of a wet ramp and composed at speed on the highway, and you can live with a firm ride, this is one of the most usable fast coupes we hand over. Two people travelling light will love it.
Skip it if you're carrying a family and their luggage, if a soft ride matters more to you than handling, or if a wide low coupe in tight Marina bays sounds like a chore rather than a quirk. For those weeks, a sedan or a roomier coupe will serve you better. But if you've been wanting to know what 510 hp feels like as your daily car for seven days, the M4 is the one to book.
