Be realistic about the limit. This is a light SUV with a modest engine, not a low-range dune machine. For soft sand and serious off-roading you want a body-on-frame 4x4 with proper recovery kit. The Duster handles the in-between, which is where most weekend plans actually sit.

The honest weakness is pace. 114 hp moving an AWD SUV means roughly 12 seconds to 100, so highway merging and overtaking on Sheikh Zayed Road need planning rather than a quick stab of throttle. It'll sit at 120 fine, but it's working, and it's not the car for someone who likes to surge past traffic. For a steady cruise to DXB or DWC and back, it's perfectly comfortable. Just don't expect it to feel quick.

For a budget-minded renter who wants a tough, tall, frugal little SUV that can stray off the tarmac, the Duster earns its keep.
