Few cars reward a single great drive the way this one does, and we hand over the Porsche 911 2022 in Dubai with 250 km a day built into the booking, so the loop you've been planning isn't rationed by the kilometre. This is the rear-engined coupe people rent once a trip for the experience itself, the flat-six behind you and the badge on the nose. The argument here is simple. The 911 is the benchmark sports car for how it talks to you through the wheel, and it's usable enough to live with for a week. What it asks in return is that you respect its low nose, its tiny back seats, and the cost of running something this special.
The 2022 car here is the Carrera 4, the all-wheel-drive coupe in the 992 line. A 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six sits behind the rear axle and sends 385 PS (380 hp) through an eight-speed PDK to all four wheels. On paper that reads as 0 to 100 in around 4.2 seconds, or closer to 4.0 with launch control, and a top speed near 295 km/h that you will never legally see here.
Numbers undersell it. What makes the 911 the 911 is how little daylight there is between your hand and the front axle. The steering loads up honestly, the rear-biased weight gives it a way of squatting and firing out of a corner that front-engined rivals approximate but don't quite match. Drop the windows on Al Qudra at dawn and you hear the flat-six properly. That's the rental, not the spec sheet.

Treat the 911 as a daily and it'll surprise you. The PDK is smooth in traffic, the seats hold you without punishing your back over a long stint on the E11, and visibility forward beats most mid-engined exotics. Cruise it on Sheikh Zayed Road and it sits at the national limit barely awake, with enough in reserve that an overtake is a flex of the right foot rather than an event. The presence is real too. This shape clears lanes without you trying.
Heat is the honest caveat. Park a black coupe in an open lot through a 45-degree afternoon and the cabin bakes, and a low car with a lot of glass takes a few minutes of strong front-vent airflow to come back to comfortable. There are no proper rear vents worth the name, which matters little because no adult is sitting back there for long anyway. Start it, get the air moving, give it a couple of minutes before you expect relief. It cools well once it's working, it just starts from a hotter place than a tall SUV does.
This is the part renters underestimate. The 911 sits low, and Dubai is full of aggressive speed bumps, steep mall ramps, and community road humps that were not drawn with a sports car in mind. The front lift raises the nose for exactly these moments, and you'll want it every time the road tilts up or a bump looks tall. Trigger it early, take the obstacle straight and slow, and you're fine. Forget it and you'll hear the splitter, which is a sound nobody enjoys.
Parking takes a little thought rather than a lot. The car is wide but short, so it tucks into a standard bay easily once you're past the entry ramp. Tight multi-storey corners need patience because of that low front and the wide hips, and a Marina basement on a busy night is the place to go slowly and use the camera. Nothing here is a dealbreaker. It's just a car you place deliberately instead of throwing into gaps.
The boot is up front and it's small. You get a soft holdall and a backpack in there comfortably, maybe a single cabin case if you pack light, and the 2+2 rear bench takes the overflow. As a luggage proposition for two people on a city trip, it works. For a DXB or DWC run with full-size cases for two, plan to use the back seats as cargo space, because that's what they're really for.
Fuel is the running cost you feel. The 67-litre tank and a real-world figure around 9 to 10 L/100km in mixed driving give you close to 700 km between fills if you're sensible, far less if you keep chasing that flat-six soundtrack, which you will. Premium only. Salik tolls run on the renter's account, RTA fines and speed-camera penalties come back to you, and the highway radar network is dense, so the car's pace is best enjoyed in short, legal bursts. Belts on, front and back. Security terms on a car at this level are stricter than on an everyday rental, so confirm the exact requirements when you book.
Rent the 911 if the drive is the point of the trip. Two people, light bags, a clear morning, and a stretch of open road, that's where this car earns its keep and gives you a memory the rental sedan never will. It's the one to book when you want to feel a great chassis work rather than just get somewhere.
Skip it if you need space or soft comfort. Travelling with three or four adults, or with real luggage, means the back seats and the frunk run out fast, and a Panamera or a Cayenne gives you the Porsche feel with room to breathe. Want a softer, longer-legged grand tourer for highway miles? Look at a bigger GT coupe. But if you came to Dubai to drive something properly special for a day or a week, the Carrera 4 is the benchmark for a reason, and it's worth every bit of the planning around its low nose and small boot.
