You can rent the Peugeot 3008 2025 in Dubai from 18, where most desks make you wait until 21, and we bring it to your door in one to two hours. This French compact crossover is the antidote to the identical grey Japanese and Korean SUV in every other rental bay. It has a cabin with a point of view, a 1.6 turbo that's frugal without feeling slow, and styling that reads as more expensive than the rate. Our take: for a younger renter or a couple who want something with character and low running costs for a city week, the 3008 is the smart pick, as long as you get on with its unusual driving position.
The 1.6-litre turbo makes 150 hp, and that's well judged for this car. It pulls cleanly off the line, reaches 100 in 8.9 seconds, and has enough mid-range for the moment you need to merge across two lanes before an exit on Sheikh Zayed Road. This is not a small city engine running out of breath above 100. It holds E11 pace all day and the automatic settles into a quiet cruise, with a top speed of 186 km/h far beyond anything you'll legally use here.
The reason to care is fuel. Driven with a light foot the turbo returns around the low 6s per 100 km, and even with Dubai stop-start traffic and the AC working you stay sensible. The 55-litre tank then stretches a long way, so most renters fill up roughly once across a normal city week rather than chasing stations. For the money, little else in this class costs you less at the pump.
Here's the part to check before you commit to a week. The 3008 uses Peugeot's i-Cockpit layout, which puts a small, low-set steering wheel below a high instrument display that you look over rather than through. Most people adapt inside a day and love how quick and light it makes the steering feel. Some never get on with it, especially taller drivers who find the wheel rim clipping the top of the dials.
My advice is plain. When we deliver, spend five minutes in the parked car setting the seat and wheel before you drive off. If your sightline to the instruments is clean, you'll enjoy it. If it isn't and you can't fix it, tell us, because this is a love-it-or-hate-it design and there's no point fighting it for a week.

At 4.4 metres long with light steering, the 3008 is easy in the city. U-turns, multi-storey bays and Marina ramps are all straightforward, and the 219 mm of clearance shrugs off the speed bumps and mall entry lips that scrape lower cars. The ride leans firm rather than soft, so you feel the sharper joints, but it never turns harsh.
Cabin cooling matters more than horsepower for most of the Dubai year. Left in open sun the interior bakes like any car, but the AC pulls a parked cabin down to comfortable within a few minutes of driving, and there are rear vents so back-seat passengers aren't left to suffer. Start it, get the air moving, give it a minute before you load kids in, and a 45-degree afternoon is manageable.
The 520-litre boot is genuinely good for the class. Two large suitcases plus a couple of soft bags fit for a DXB or DWC pickup, more than most compact crossovers manage, and dropping the rear seats gives a flat, long load space for bulkier gear. Four adults travel in comfort for city hops and shorter runs, with the rear fine for two across a longer trip and snug for three. The honest caveat is that the styled cabin eats a little knee and head room versus a boxier rival, so very tall rear passengers on a long drive will feel it.
The 3008 is fitted for Salik, so tolls run through automatically as you pass the gates, and those plus any RTA fines during the rental are yours to cover. Belts are required in every seat, and a child under four needs a proper child seat, which we can fit if you ask when booking.
Rent the 3008 2025 if you want a small SUV with style and low running costs for a city week, you're a couple or a small family doing errands and the odd highway run, and you're happy to try the i-Cockpit. Being able to take it from 18 makes it one of the easier characterful cars to book here.
Look elsewhere in two cases. If you're tall and the small wheel blocks the dials, a conventional crossover like a Tucson or Sportage will suit you better. And if you regularly carry four adults with full luggage, or you want desert and proper off-road ability, size up, because the 3008 is front-wheel drive and built for tarmac. Within its lane, it's the one I'd pick on looks, feel and fuel bills together.
