We hand over the keys to a Peugeot 3008 2024 at your door in Dubai, with payment kept flexible and settled on delivery, so the booking is sorted before the car even arrives. This is the French compact crossover for the renter who's tired of the same grey Japanese and Korean SUV in every other bay. The 3008 has a cabin that actually has a point of view, a 1.6 turbo with real shove, and styling that reads as expensive. What follows is an honest look at who that suits in a week of Dubai driving, and who would be happier in something plainer or bigger.
Park the 3008 next to the usual crossover suspects and it stands apart. The creased bodywork, the slim lights and the upright nose give it presence that punches above its class, and inside it goes further. The dashboard is layered in a way most rivals never attempt, with a high digital instrument screen, a row of toggle switches, and a central display angled toward the driver. For a renter who wants a car that feels like a treat rather than an appliance, this is the draw. It does cost you a little practicality, which I'll come back to, but on character alone nothing else in this class feels as considered.
Here's the part you test before you commit to a week. The 3008 uses Peugeot's i-Cockpit layout, which means a small, low-set steering wheel that you look over rather than through to read the dials. Most people adapt inside a day and love how quick the steering feels. Some never get on with it, especially taller drivers who find the wheel rim clipping the top of the instrument view.
My advice is simple. When we deliver, spend five minutes in the parked car setting the seat and wheel before you drive off. If your sightline to the dials is clean, you'll enjoy it. If it isn't and you can't fix it, tell us, because this is a love-it-or-hate-it design.

The 1.6 turbo makes 150 HP, and that's plenty for this car. It pulls cleanly off the line, hits 100 in 8.9 seconds, and has the mid-range muscle for the moment you need it. Slip onto Sheikh Zayed Road, want to merge across two lanes before your exit, and the engine answers without drama. This isn't a small city car running out of breath above 100. It holds E11 pace all day, and the automatic settles into a relaxed cruise.
Around town it stays easy. The light steering and tidy 4.4-metre length make U-turns and multi-storey bays manageable, and the 219 mm of clearance shrugs off the speed bumps and mall ramps that scrape lower cars. The ride leans firm rather than plush, so you feel sharper joints, but it never gets harsh.
Cabin cooling matters more than horsepower for most of the year here. Leave the 3008 in open sun and the interior bakes like any car, but the AC pulls a parked cabin down to comfortable within a few minutes of driving, and there are rear vents so back-seat passengers aren't left to suffer. Start it, get the air moving, give it a minute before you load kids in, and you're fine even on a 45-degree afternoon.
On fuel, the turbo returns somewhere around 5.7 l/100km if you're gentle, though Dubai stop-start traffic and heavy AC push that higher. With a 53-litre tank you're realistically looking at filling up roughly once a week on normal city use, more often if you're doing daily airport runs or long E11 stints.
The 520-litre boot is genuinely good for this class. Two large suitcases plus a couple of soft bags fit for a DXB or DWC airport pickup, which is more than most compact crossovers manage. Drop the rear seats and you've a flat, long load space for bulkier gear.
Four adults travel in comfort for city hops and shorter runs. The rear is fine for two adults across a longer trip, snug for three. The honest caveat is that the cabin styling eats a little knee and headroom versus a boxier rival, so very tall rear passengers on a long drive will feel it.
The 3008 is fitted for Salik, so tolls run through automatically as you pass the gates. Those tolls are yours to cover, as are any RTA fines picked up during the rental. Seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can fit if you ask when booking.
Rent the 3008 2024 if you want a small SUV with style and a cabin that feels special, you're two adults or a small family doing city errands and the odd highway run, and you're happy to try the i-Cockpit layout. For that renter it's one of the more characterful things you can book in this class, and it doesn't feel cheap for a moment.
Look elsewhere in two cases. If you're tall and the small wheel blocks your view of the dials, a conventional crossover like a Tucson or Sportage will suit you better. And if you regularly carry four adults plus full airport luggage, or you want desert and proper off-road ability, size up to a larger SUV. The 3008 is front-wheel drive and built for tarmac, not dunes. Within its lane, though, it's the one I'd pick on looks and feel alone.
