Rent Nissan Rogue 2023 in Dubai

Most crossovers in this class drive the front wheels only. The Nissan Rogue 2023 is one of the few you can rent in Dubai with all-wheel drive on the desk, and we bring it to your door in one to two hours, debit card or cash fine at handover. That traction won't turn it into a dune tool, but it earns its keep on a wet Marina ramp or a gravel site road. Underneath it's a roomy five-seater built for the ordinary Dubai week: the commute, the school run, the airport pickup. There's one thing worth settling before you book, though, and it's what the badge on the back actually is.

What it costs to run

Start with that badge question. Rogue is the name Nissan uses in North America for the car the Gulf sells as the X-Trail, and the two don't share an engine. US-spec Rogues run a 1.5-litre turbo three-cylinder, while the Gulf car is a 2.5-litre four making 181 hp and 245 Nm through an Xtronic CVT. Our desk lists this one as the 2.5, which is the version that makes sense here, but if the exact engine matters to you, confirm it when you book rather than assume.

Either way it's tuned for economy over pace. Nissan quotes around 8 litres per 100 km combined, which is a lab figure. A loaded SUV crawling through Dubai traffic with the AC flat out is realistically nearer 10. The 55-litre tank is good for roughly 550 km of city driving, so a normal week means a couple of stops at the pump, and fuel here is cheap enough that it rarely stings.

Mileage is the line to read before you commit. This car comes with a generous monthly allowance your desk confirms at booking, which covers city family life with plenty to spare. Go past it and it's AED 3 for each extra kilometre, so a stretch of long desert days is worth a quick word first. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental are yours, the same as with every car we hand over. You'll need to be 22, with a little driving experience behind you, to take the keys.

Space and the family case

The boot is where the Rogue earns its rent over a smaller crossover. With the rear seats up it takes about 585 litres, which is two large suitcases plus soft bags for a DXB or DWC run without folding a thing. Drop the 60/40 rear bench and the floor opens right out for flatpack furniture or a couple of bikes.

Up front, two adults get plenty of room and the high seating that makes people choose a crossover in the first place. The back seat is genuinely good for the class: two adults sit in comfort, three kids fit across, and there's real knee room behind a tall driver. This is a five-seater with no third row, though, so a family that regularly needs six or seven seats should look at a bigger SUV.

Parking stays manageable. At about 4.68 metres long and 1.84 wide it's bigger than a compact crossover, so tight multi-storey bays and Marina tower ramps want a bit of care, but it's nothing like wrestling a full-size SUV into a space. Around 205 mm of clearance clears speed bumps and steep mall ramps cleanly. The all-wheel drive adds confidence on a wet ramp or a gravel construction road, but keep it in proportion: this is a soft-road system on road tyres, not a low-range 4x4 for the dunes.

Cabin cooling when it's 45 outside

Dubai summers push into the high 40s, and cabin size decides how the first minutes feel after the car's been baking in an open car park. The Rogue's mid-sized cabin lands sensibly, with more air to chill than a small hatch and less than a three-row SUV. The front vents pull hard once you're moving, and the front seats come good quickly.

For families the useful part is the rear air. Vents on the back of the console mean kids in the back get cold air straight away rather than waiting on it to reach them from the dash. Start the car, give it a couple of minutes before everyone climbs back in, and park in shade or a basement where you can. Do that and the heat stops being a factor.

Who should rent it, who should skip it

Rent the Rogue 2023 if you're a couple or a family of four or five who wants a comfortable, higher-riding SUV for a mix of city and highway weeks, with the reassurance of all-wheel drive that most rivals at this price don't offer. The commute, the school run, the mall and the airport pickup are its natural beat, and the 2.5 holds a lane on Sheikh Zayed Road without complaint even with a full car.

Skip it, or size up, in two cases. If you regularly carry six or seven people, you want a three-row SUV or an MPV, because the Rogue stops at five. And if your plans centre on real off-road, dune drives or rocky trails, this soft-road AWD on road tyres isn't the tool, and a body-on-frame 4x4 is. One honest note to finish: if it's just you doing errands on a tight budget, a smaller crossover or a hatchback does that job for less. The Rogue earns its place when you actually use the space, the highway comfort and the extra grip, which for most families renting one in Dubai is exactly the point.
