Nissan Pathfinder 2024 - start from 537 AED / day

Need seven seats for a Dubai trip? The Nissan Pathfinder 2024 is a full-size family SUV we deliver to your door in one to two hours, with a no-deposit option so you're not tying up a big chunk of your card on a big car. This is the SUV for the group that doesn't fit in a sedan: three rows, a strong V6, and all-wheel drive for the days you leave the tarmac. The 2024 model keeps the boxy, upright shape that makes the cabin so usable. Our take is straightforward: if you're moving six or seven people and their luggage around Dubai for a week, this is the right size of car, and we'll be honest about the fuel bill that comes with it.

Seven seats, and how usable the third row really is

The Pathfinder seats seven, and unlike a lot of three-row SUVs the back row isn't a token gesture. It's genuinely sized for adults on shorter trips and fine for kids all week. The second row slides and tilts to make getting into the third row easy, which matters when you're loading children at a mall car park. For a family of five or six this is comfortable space rather than a squeeze.

The catch is the trade between people and luggage, and it's worth understanding before you book. With all three rows up, cargo space behind the back seats is around 480 litres, enough for a few soft bags and the airport shop, not seven people's suitcases. Drop the third row and you open up roughly 1,270 litres, which is where the Pathfinder earns its keep: five passengers plus a proper holiday's worth of cases. Carry seven and you'll want luggage that travels light, or a roof box.

The engine, the highway, and what it costs to fuel

Under the bonnet is a 3.5-litre V6 making 284 hp through a 9-speed automatic. This is the part that separates the Pathfinder from the smaller crossovers people sometimes settle for. Loaded with a full family and their bags, it still pulls strongly, and overtaking on Sheikh Zayed Road or the E11 is effortless rather than a leap of faith. At 120 it sits quiet and planted, which is exactly what you want for a long airport run or a drive out to the east coast.

That muscle has a price at the pump. Expect real-world economy in the region of 11 to 13 litres per 100 km, more if you're heavy on the highway with the car full and the AC working hard in summer. The 72-litre tank means you're not stopping constantly, but budget for the Pathfinder drinking more than the small SUVs. For the space and the easy highway pace, most families find it a fair deal.

Where the all-wheel drive earns its place

The Pathfinder runs all-wheel drive with selectable modes, and 178 mm of ground clearance. That's not a hardcore dune basher, and we wouldn't send it deep into soft sand without dropping tyre pressures and knowing what you're doing. But for a graded desert track, a gravel approach to a campsite, or the drive up to Hatta with the family aboard, the AWD and the clearance give you confidence a front-drive crossover can't. For most renters the real value of the AWD is grip and stability with a heavy load, not extreme off-roading.

Parking a car this size in the city

There's no pretending the Pathfinder is small. At five metres long and nearly two metres wide, tight multi-storey bays and some Marina ramps take care, and you'll use the cameras and sensors rather than eyeballing it. U-turns need a wider sweep than you're used to in a sedan. That said, the high seating position gives a commanding view of the road, and once you're parked the size pays you back in space. If your week is mostly threading through packed Downtown car parks with two people aboard, this is more car than you need.

Staying cool with a full cabin

In a Dubai summer, cooling a cabin this big is a real test, and the Pathfinder is built for it. There are vents for all three rows, so children in the back aren't left baking while the front stays cold. Parked in 45-degree sun the cabin gets hot like any car, but the climate system has the capacity to pull a large interior down to comfortable across all the seats once you're moving. Those third-row vents are the detail that makes a full-family summer trip bearable.

The rules and costs that fall to you

Salik tolls are charged to you at each gantry, and any RTA fines during the rental are yours. Belts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a child seat by law, which we can fit on request, including for the second and third rows. Standard for Dubai, but with seven seats in play it's worth confirming you've got the right seats for the kids on board.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Pathfinder 2024 if you're moving six or seven people, want a V6 that handles the highway with the car full, and value AWD for a Hatta day or a graded desert track. For a family holiday or a group trip, it's the right tool, and the third row is one you can actually use.

Skip it if you're two or three people on a city-only week, where you'd be paying for fuel and size you don't need. A smaller SUV or a sedan would cost you less and park more easily. And if you need maximum luggage with all seven seats filled every day, plan for a roof box, because that's the one thing even a car this big can't fully solve.
