The Nissan Kicks 2025 in our fleet is not the same car as the older Kicks still parked alongside it. Nissan redesigned the Kicks from the ground up for this generation, which reached Dubai showrooms in February this year, and it rents here with a bigger engine, a genuinely larger boot and a cabin that feels a step up from the outgoing model. We deliver it to your door across Dubai within one to two hours, no counter visit needed. This page settles one thing: whether the new generation's extra size and power change what a week's rental actually buys you, and where the older Kicks would have done the job just as well.
The old Kicks ran a 1.6-litre engine making 118 hp. This one swaps that for a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four making 142 hp and 190 Nm, still sent to the front wheels through a CVT automatic. The GCC lineup stays front-wheel drive across the range, so don't expect an all-wheel-drive option here even though one exists in other markets.
The extra displacement is obvious from the first junction. Pulling away from a red light or merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road takes noticeably less throttle than the old car needed. Overtaking is still a naturally aspirated experience rather than a turbocharged one, so you plan the gap on the E11 rather than expect an instant surge, but there's more in reserve than the outgoing Kicks ever offered. Around town, in the stop-start crawl that makes up most of a rental week, the new engine feels calmer and less strained than the old 1.6 did at the same speeds.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Engine | 2.0-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder |
| Power | 142 hp / 190 Nm |
| Transmission | CVT automatic |
| Drive | Front-wheel drive |
| Seats | 5 |
| Fuel economy | 5.4 L/100km combined (claimed) |
| Fuel tank | 45 litres |
| Range | roughly 600 to 650 km in city use |
| Boot | 470 litres (seats up) |
| Dimensions (L x W x H) | 4,365 x 1,800 x 1,625 mm |
| Ground clearance | 213 mm |
| Colour | White |
The boot grew along with everything else, up from 432 litres in the old Kicks to 470 now. In practice that's two large suitcases and a couple of soft bags with the rear seats still up, so a family arriving at DXB or DWC doesn't have to fold anything down just to get the cases in. Push the 60/40 rear bench flat and the load area opens up properly for flatpack furniture, moving boxes or a bike.
The cabin grew too, by four centimetres in width and two and a half in height, and it shows in the back seat. Two adults sit with noticeably more shoulder and headroom than before, and three children buckle across without the squeeze the previous generation had. Put a fourth adult back there for a full airport run with everyone's luggage aboard and it's still snug, because this remains a compact crossover rather than a mid-size SUV, but there's more give than before.
That size increase costs a little at the parking barrier. At 4,365 mm long and 1,800 mm wide, the new Kicks is 70 mm longer and 40 mm wider than the car it replaces, so a bay that used to feel roomy now feels merely adequate. It still drops into standard mall and tower parking without drama, and the 213 mm of ground clearance handles speed bumps and steep ramp lips easily. That clearance is a city advantage, not an invitation to Hatta. This is still front-wheel drive on road tyres, and soft sand will bog it as fast as the old car.
Despite the bigger engine, the new Kicks is actually the more efficient car on paper. Nissan claims 5.4 litres per 100 km combined against the old car's 6.1, though Dubai's stop-and-go traffic and a hard-working AC push real-world driving closer to 7. The 45-litre tank, four more than before, still nets roughly 600 to 650 km of city range at that realistic figure, so most weeks of commuting and errands mean one stop at the pump.
Mileage is worth reading before you book. You get 250 km a day included, comfortable for city life, and AED 0.5 for every kilometre past that, so a full day out to Hatta or the east coast is worth a rough sum first. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental are the renter's responsibility, as with every car here.
The bigger cabin means slightly more air to chill than the old, smaller Kicks had, so it takes a touch longer to pull down from a car park that's been sitting at 45 degrees. The front vents are strong once the AC gets going. We haven't confirmed rear vents across every trim in this generation, so treat the back row the way you would in most compact crossovers this size, leaning on air pushed through from the front. Park in shade where you can and the gap barely matters over a normal day.
Rent the Kicks 2025 if you want the newer engine's extra punch, a boot that comfortably swallows airport luggage, and a back seat that's noticeably less cramped than the outgoing car, without stepping up to a mid-size SUV. Couples, small families and residents who want more car than the old Kicks without paying for one are exactly who this suits.
Look elsewhere if you're regularly carrying four adults with a full set of luggage, since the extra size helps but doesn't solve that math, or if the plan runs to Hatta's tracks or open desert, where the front-wheel drivetrain is still the limiting factor. If a slightly tighter parking bay matters less to you than a stronger engine and a bigger boot, the outgoing Kicks in our fleet is still worth a look instead. We deliver the Kicks 2025 to your door in one to two hours, and you'll need to be 25 to take the keys. For a genuinely redesigned crossover that costs little more to run than the car it replaced, it's an easy recommendation for one or two people, or a small family, driving Dubai for a week or a month.
