Nissan Kicks 2022 - start from 139 AED / day

We deliver the Nissan Kicks 2022 to your door in Dubai, usually within one to two hours of booking, and the reason renters keep picking it is the fuel bill. This small crossover sips petrol like a city hatch while giving you the higher seat and the easier view that make Dubai traffic less of a grind. It's an economy SUV for one or two people and light family use, front-wheel drive only, with a modest 122 hp. Our take: if you want a frugal, raised runabout that's easy to park and cheap to feed, the Kicks is a smart pick. If your week leans on fast highway overtaking or carrying four adults with luggage, it isn't, and we'll say so.

Fuel, range and the running cost

This is the headline. The 1.6-litre four-cylinder is genuinely economical, rated up to 18 km per litre, and with the 41-litre tank that works out to roughly 569 km of combined range, more on a steady highway run. For a typical Dubai week of errands, the school run and a couple of longer trips, that's one fill, maybe a small top-up before you hand it back. Real-world numbers drop a little in summer with the AC working hard, but it stays cheap to run by any measure. This is the main reason renters choose the Kicks over a thirstier crossover that costs more at every stop.

On the road, and where it runs short

Around town the Kicks is easy and light, and the 122 hp through the CVT is unbothered by stop-start traffic and stoplight pulls. For city speeds it's exactly enough.

The honesty has to come on the highway. With 122 hp and a CVT, overtaking at 120 on Sheikh Zayed Road means planning ahead, not a quick stab of the throttle. It cruises fine and holds its lane comfortably, but it works harder than a bigger-engined crossover when you ask for a sudden burst. For DXB or DWC airport runs and the occasional intercity trip it's perfectly capable. If your week is mostly fast highway miles with a full car aboard, you'll want more grunt.

Parking, ramps and speed bumps

Here the Kicks earns its keep. At around 4.3 metres long it slots into the tight bays you find in older Marina towers and packed mall car parks, and the high seating gives a clear view over the bonnet for judging gaps. U-turns on a divided road take one bite, not a three-point shuffle.

Ground clearance is 178 mm, higher than most hatchbacks. Dubai's speed bumps, including the steep ones in residential clusters, and the sharp lips on some mall ramps clear without scraping. You sit up enough to see over traffic without the parking headache of a full-size SUV.

Heat and how fast the cabin cools

Leave any car parked in a Dubai July and the cabin hits oven temperatures by midday. The Kicks has a small interior volume, which helps here: the AC has less air to chill, so front-vent output pulls the temperature down to bearable inside a few minutes once you're rolling. Rear passengers rely on airflow from the front rather than dedicated rear vents, so on a 45-degree afternoon the back seat takes a little longer to settle. For two up front it cools quickly. With kids in the back on a long midday drive, start the AC and let it run before you load everyone in.

Luggage and who fits

With the rear seats folded you get up to 400 litres of cargo space, which in real terms covers a couple flying in for the week or a small family doing weekend trips. Behind the upright rear seats it's tighter, more one large case and a soft bag than a full family's hard cases. Three across the back works for short hops, but four adults plus their airport luggage is where it runs out of room. For one or two people, the Kicks carries more than the numbers suggest.

A few Dubai basics. You pay the Salik tolls yourself, and they add up fast if your route crosses Sheikh Zayed gantries. Any RTA fines during the rental pass to you, so watch the speed cameras on the E11. Seat belts are required in every seat, and under-fours need a child seat, which we can arrange before delivery.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Nissan Kicks 2022 if you're one or two people who want a raised, easy-to-park crossover that barely touches the fuel gauge and handles Dubai's bumps and bays without fuss. For city errands, light family use and airport pickups for a small group, it's a sensible, low-cost choice.

Size up if you regularly carry four adults with luggage, or if your driving leans on fast highway overtaking. For those trips a larger crossover or a midsize sedan serves you better. For everyone else who just wants a frugal, manageable car with a higher view of the road, the Kicks is hard to argue with on cost.
