Mitsubishi Xpander 2025 - start from 328 AED / day

Seven seatbelts usually mean a big SUV and a big daily rate, but the Mitsubishi Xpander 2025 gets you there for a lot less, and we deliver it across Dubai within an hour or two of booking. It's a seven-seat MPV built around the practical side of family life rather than the spec-sheet side: tall doors kids can climb into themselves, a high airy seat, light controls, and seats for everyone when you need them. The argument of this page is about value. As the affordable way to carry a family and their weekend kit, the Xpander earns its place, provided you go in clear-eyed about its small engine and what that third row costs you in boot space.

Why the Xpander makes sense for the money

The appeal here is calm and cost, not speed. You sit high, the windows are big, and the steering is light, so a mall car park or the morning drop-off doesn't take much out of you. The 1.5-litre engine and four-speed automatic are tuned for smoothness in stop-start traffic rather than urgency. What makes it genuinely useful is the layout: the middle row slides and folds, the doors open wide, and getting a child seat in and buckled doesn't mean wrestling through a narrow gap. For the rate, you'd struggle to find an easier car to live with that still seats seven.

How the small engine copes with a full load

This is the caveat worth being straight about. With 105 hp pulling a body this size, the Xpander is unbothered around town but works harder once it's loaded and up to speed. On Sheikh Zayed Road it holds the limit fine, yet overtaking with seven aboard and the AC running needs planning, not a flick of the right foot. Treat it as a relaxed cruiser rather than a quick one and it never feels strained. The payoff is the running cost: at roughly 8.9 litres per 100km, the 45-litre tank gives a comfortable week of school runs and errands between fills.

Will my family and their luggage fit

Seven seats sounds generous, and for short hops it is. The third row is best treated as occasional space, fine for two children or for adults on a quick run across town, tight for grown-ups on anything longer. The honest trade-off is luggage. With all three rows up, the boot drops to around 160 litres, which holds a few shopping bags and not much else. Fold that third row down and the load area opens right up, easily enough for a family's cases and a pram.

So the question is how you'll actually use it. Five people plus a full boot for an airport run or a Hatta weekend? The Xpander does that comfortably. Seven people and their luggage at the same time? That's where it gets tight, and a full-size seven-seat SUV makes more sense. Plan to fold the back row when you need cargo, and seat seven only when bags are light.

Heat, parking and the Dubai practicalities

In summer the cabin bakes after an hour in the sun, and the air conditioning takes a few minutes to pull a parked car down from the high 40s. Front and middle-row passengers get the strongest airflow, while the third row cools more slowly, so on the hottest days start the car and let it run before you load everyone in. With small children aboard, that's a real consideration.

For its size the Xpander parks easily. The 205 mm of clearance clears speed bumps and steeper mall ramps without scraping, and the high seat helps with tight multi-storey bays and U-turns. It's longer than a hatchback but narrow and easy to place, so the Marina basement and the airport short-stay don't intimidate it.

A few rules to keep in mind. Salik tolls run up automatically as you pass the gantries and are billed to you, and any RTA fines during your rental are the renter's responsibility. Seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need an appropriate child seat, which matters in a car you're likely renting precisely because you're moving kids around.

Who should rent it, and who should size up

Rent the Xpander 2025 if you want a roomy, cheap-to-run daily for a family of four or five, with two extra seats for the days you need them. For school runs, mall trips, and weekend drives with the third row folded for luggage, it does exactly what a people carrier should and asks very little of the driver. If you regularly need all seven seats filled and a full boot, or you want real pace and pulling power for long highway hauls with everyone aboard, look at a larger seven-seat SUV instead. Match the car to how full it'll actually be, and the Xpander is one of the most stress-free, best-value family rentals in its class.
