The Mitsubishi Outlander 2025 belongs to the family that needs seven seats some of the time and two rows every single day. We rent it across Dubai with 300 km a day included and doorstep delivery inside one to two hours, so a school run plus an airport collection never eats into a tight allowance. It's a midsize SUV with a third row that folds flat into the floor, and that folding is the whole point of the car. What this page settles is one question: how many people and how many suitcases you can carry at the same time. The honest answer is fewer of both than the seat count suggests.

Start with the boot, not the seats

With all three rows up, you get 163 litres behind row three. That figure is worth picturing rather than reading. It's a couple of backpacks and a supermarket shop, or one cabin case standing upright with very little room beside it. A family of seven landing at DXB with seven bags will not fit, and no amount of clever packing changes that.

Fold the third row flat and the car becomes what most renters actually use. Load space opens to 478 litres, which takes two large hard cases plus soft bags without stacking anything against the rear glass. That is a proper week of luggage for four or five people. If your week involves any real quantity of suitcases, plan on running the Outlander as a five-seater and treat row three as the occasional bonus.

Seven seats, and who actually belongs in row three

The first two rows are the good part. Two adults up front sit comfortably with room to spare, and the second row slides, so you can trade legroom between the middle and the back depending on who is sitting where. Three children fit across row two without arguments about elbows.

Row three is a different proposition. Kids up to early teens are genuinely fine back there for a cross-town trip, and an adult will sit in it from the Marina to the mall without complaint. Nobody wants that seat for the full run to Abu Dhabi. Getting in means sliding and tipping a second-row seat forward, easy enough in a quiet car park and awkward at a busy valet with people waiting.

So if you are booking for seven, book it knowing that two of those seven are small and the trip is short. If seven adults need to travel together with bags, this is the wrong car and we would rather tell you now than at the kerb.

What a week actually costs to run

This is the petrol 2.5, not the plug-in hybrid Mitsubishi sells alongside it, so there is nothing to charge and no cable to think about. The official combined figure is 7.2 litres per 100 km. Real Dubai driving lands closer to 9 or 10, because the AC works hard, traffic is stop and start, and a loaded car asks more of the engine. On the 55-litre tank that means roughly 550 to 600 km between fills, so a normal week of errands with one highway trip is a single fill and maybe a splash before you hand it back. Fuel is cheap here, and this is not the car's expensive part.

The costs that catch people out sit elsewhere. Salik is billed to you every time the car passes a gantry, and any RTA fines during the rental are yours. Your 300 km a day is generous by Dubai standards, but a same-day Abu Dhabi return will pass it, and anything beyond is AED 0.5 per kilometre.

Highway pace, tight ramps and a cabin at 45 degrees

181 hp and a CVT will not thrill anyone. With two or three people aboard the Outlander merges onto Sheikh Zayed Road perfectly well and holds a 120 cruise quietly. Load all seven seats and the boot, then ask for a hard overtake, and the CVT sends the revs up and holds them there while the car gathers speed. Plan your moves a little earlier and it never becomes a problem. Around town, where you spend most of your week, the same gearbox is smooth and undramatic.

At 4710 mm long and 1897 wide it is a midsize SUV, narrower and shorter than the full-size American seven-seaters, which shows in older Marina towers and mall basements where the bays are tight. It still needs a considered line into a narrow space, and the camera and sensors do most of the work. The 210 mm of ground clearance is generous, so speed bumps and steep mall ramps are a non-event, and a graded track to a picnic spot is fine. We cannot promise the specific car you get is the all-wheel-drive version, so treat soft sand and dune tracks as off limits and book a proper 4x4 if that is your weekend.

Heat is the honest caveat. A cabin this size sitting in an open lot in July takes a couple of minutes to become pleasant, and dropping the windows for ten seconds as you pull away clears it far quicker. The front and second row cool properly once the system catches up. Row three, at the back of a long cabin, is always the last place to get cold, which is another reason to keep it for short trips with children. Belts are mandatory in every seat and under-fours need a child seat, which we can fit before delivery.

Who should rent it, and who should look elsewhere

Rent the Outlander 2025 if you are four or five people who want two comfortable rows every day, a big flat boot, and two extra seats for the occasional school friend or visiting relative. That is the car at its best, and the 210 mm of clearance and easy size make it a genuinely relaxed thing to run around Dubai for a week. We rent from 18 with a year of driving behind you, which most desks here will not do.

Look at a Kia Carnival or a full-size SUV if you truly carry seven people and their luggage together, because that combination is beyond any midsize seven-seater. Drop to a five-seat crossover if there are two or three of you and you want a smaller fuel bill and easier parking. For the family that needs the third row sometimes rather than always, the Outlander is the sensible pick.
