Rent Mitsubishi Outlander 2024 in Dubai

Say a week in Dubai looks like this: a daily run down Sheikh Zayed Road to the office, a Friday pickup at DXB for family flying in, and a couple of weekend mall trips with kids in the back. The Mitsubishi Outlander 2024 suits exactly that mix, and we hand it over at your door, usually within one to two hours of booking, debit card or cash fine at handover. It's a seven-seat SUV with a real 181 hp engine, so it holds a highway lane fully loaded without gasping. Before you book, the sum worth doing first is what a week of that driving actually costs to run.

The running sum, and the mileage line to watch

The Outlander's 2.5-litre four makes 181 hp and drives the front wheels through a CVT. That engine is the reason to pay a little more than the cheapest seven-seaters like the Xpander or Captiva. Loaded with people and bags, it still pulls onto the E11 and finishes an overtake cleanly, so the airport run or a trip to Abu Dhabi stays relaxed. Push it hard and the CVT drones, but at normal Dubai pace it's smooth and quiet.

Fuel is the price of that size. Mitsubishi quotes around 8 litres per 100 km combined, which is a lab figure. A loaded SUV in Dubai stop-and-go with the AC flat out is realistically nearer 10 or 11. The 55-litre tank gives roughly 550 km of mixed city driving, so a normal week means a couple of trips to the pump, and fuel here is cheap enough that it rarely stings.

Mileage is the number to read before you commit. You get 250 km a day included, which covers city family life comfortably. Past that it's AED 0.5 for every extra kilometre, so a full day out to Hatta or Al Ain and back is worth a quick calculation first. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental fall to you, the same as with every car we hand over.

How it loads, back to that airport run

There are really two ways you'll run this car, and the Friday DXB pickup shows both. With all seven seats up, the boot behind the third row is about 163 litres, which is a few soft bags and the shopping, not a stack of hard cases. So a full car of seven means people travel light. Fold that back row down and you're into a proper five-seat boot of around 478 litres, comfortably two big suitcases plus soft bags, which is the setup for collecting two or three arrivals and their luggage. Drop the middle row as well and it opens to roughly 1,460 litres for flatpack furniture or a bike.

The middle bench is the strong part of the cabin. Three children fit across it, or two adults with room to stretch, and it slides to trade a little legroom for boot or third-row space. That third row is a genuine kids' row, fine for the school run or a short hop, tight for anyone taller once you slide the bench forward. Plan around that and the car makes sense: seven people, or a loaded boot, rarely both on the same trip.

Cabin cooling when it's 45 outside

Dubai summers push into the high 40s, and cabin size decides how the first few minutes feel after the car's been baking in an open car park. The Outlander has more air to chill than a small hatch but less than a full-size three-row SUV, so it lands sensibly in the middle. The front vents pull hard once you're rolling, and the front two rows come good quickly.

The part that matters for families is the second-row air. Vents on the back of the console mean kids in the middle get cold air straight away rather than waiting on it to travel from the dash. The third row is the last corner to cool, which only counts if a child is sitting back there on a July afternoon. Start the car, let it run a few minutes before everyone climbs in, park in shade or a basement where you can, and the heat stops being a problem.

Who should skip the Outlander

This is front-wheel drive, not the all-wheel drive the tall SUV shape hints at, and with around 210 mm of clearance it's a tarmac car. It clears speed bumps and steep mall ramps without drama, but keep it off soft sand. It's also wide at over 1.86 metres, so tight multi-storey bays and Marina tower ramps ask for a little more care than a compact crossover. If your week is genuinely seven adults plus their cases every day, or you need the back row usable for grown-ups, skip it and size up to a body-on-frame SUV or a full MPV where the third row and the boot both survive a full load. Only need five seats on a tighter budget? A smaller crossover does that for less.

Rent the Outlander when your week actually uses the space and the highway comfort: a family of four or five who want a higher, quieter drive with two spare seats for the odd extra passenger, and an engine that doesn't wilt fully loaded on Sheikh Zayed Road. That's the case most families renting one in Dubai are making, and it's a good one. You'll need to be 25 to take the keys.
