Mitsubishi Outlander 2024 - start from 238 AED / day

Booking a family car shouldn't mean locking up a chunk of cash as a deposit, so the Mitsubishi Outlander 2024 we rent in Dubai comes with a no-deposit option alongside the standard plan. That takes the sting out of putting a roomy midsize SUV on the books for a week. The Outlander is the sensible-money family SUV here: a comfortable seven-seat cabin, a high commanding seat, and modern tech, for a rate that undercuts the bigger three-row machines. The real decisions it puts in front of you are two. How you'll use that third row, and whether you need front-wheel drive or the all-wheel-drive version. We'll be straight about both.

What you're renting

This is the current-generation Outlander, a 2.5-litre four-cylinder making 181 hp through a CVT automatic. You can have it front-wheel drive or with Mitsubishi's all-wheel-drive system. It's a comfort-led drivetrain, not a quick one. Around ten seconds to 100 km/h tells you it pulls cleanly away from lights and merges onto Sheikh Zayed Road without drama, but it won't pin you back. For a family hauler that's the right call. You want smooth and unbothered in heat and traffic, not a sprinter.

Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive

For a normal Dubai week, the front-wheel-drive Outlander is all most families need. The city, the airport run, the highway cruise, none of it asks for more. Choose the all-wheel-drive version if you want steadier grip on a wet morning, more confidence on a graded track out toward Hatta, or simply the reassurance of all four wheels driving. Neither is a dune machine, so if soft sand is the plan you want a body-on-frame 4x4 instead. For the school gate, the mall, and the E11, front-wheel drive keeps it simple and saves a little fuel.

Does my family and luggage fit

Seven seats is the headline, so here's the honest version. The first two rows are genuinely roomy. Two adults up front, three across the middle, and nobody complains on a half-hour run to the airport. The third row is the part to think about. It folds up out of the boot floor and is best treated as occasional seating for kids or short hops, school-run overflow or a couple of extra cousins to the mall. Tall adults back there for a long drive won't thank you.

Luggage is the real trade-off. With all seven seats up, the boot is tight at around 330 litres, enough for a few soft bags but not a stack of hard cases. Drop the third row, and better still the middle row too, and it opens up past 1,800 litres. So the practical setup most weeks is five people with a full boot, or seven people with light luggage. Four adults with airport cases every day will be happier in a clear-booted five-seat SUV.

Heat, AC and the cabin

Park anything in a Dubai August and the cabin hits oven temperatures by midday. The Outlander's large glass area means more sun load, so give the AC a minute with the doors open before you load kids in. Once it's running, the front and middle vents pull a parked cabin down to comfortable within a few minutes, and there are rear vents to keep the second row honest. The third row sits furthest from the cold air, another reason it suits short trips more than a baking afternoon crawl. The high dashboard and tall windows give a commanding view that helps in heavy traffic and tight car parks.

Parking, ramps and the road

At 4.71 metres it's a midsize SUV, not a barge, so it slots into standard mall and tower bays without the breath-holding of a full-size seven-seater. The turning circle handles Marina U-turns. With 213 mm of clearance it clears aggressive community speed bumps and steep mall ramps cleanly, no scraping into the basement. On Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 it cruises quietly and sits stable at speed, which is what you want for the DXB or DWC airport run. Overtaking takes a moment of planning given the comfort tuning, so leave room rather than expecting a sudden surge.

Running costs and the rules

The 55-litre tank and roughly 8.9 L/100km give a real-world range near 714 km, so a week of school runs, mall trips, and the odd highway stretch is one or two fills, not a constant pump habit. You cover Salik tolls yourself, and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, so keep to limits on the E11. Seat belts are required in every row, and children under four need a proper child seat, worth planning for given that third row.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Outlander 2024 if you want a comfortable, well-equipped family SUV with the option of seven seats for the rate, and you're realistic that the third row is for kids and short hops. It's the value three-row of the week: high view, easy parking, quiet on the highway, modest at the pump, and bookable with no deposit. Skip it if you need a clear boot for four adults and a week of hard cases, where a five-seat SUV serves you better, or if dunes are on the itinerary, where a proper 4x4 is the honest choice. For most Dubai families splitting time between the school gate, the mall, and the airport, this is the sensible one to book.
