Mitsubishi Outlander 2023 - start from 237 AED / day

If your week in Dubai is built around airport runs and long highway stretches more than tight city errands, the Mitsubishi Outlander 2023 is a comfortable, quiet way to do it, and we bring it to your door in one to two hours rather than making you queue at a counter. It rents here as a midsize seven-seat SUV that's happiest cruising, not sprinting. The real decision this page helps you make is whether you size into the third row at all, or treat this as a roomy five-seater with seats spare. We'll be straight about which one you're actually buying.

On the highway and the airport run

This is where the Outlander 2023 is at its best. The 2.5-litre four pulls cleanly and the cabin settles into a calm, planted cruise at 120 on the E11, which is exactly what you want for the long haul out to DWC or the quick hop to DXB. It isn't fast. The engine is tuned for smooth and unbothered, so overtaking is a matter of leaving room and easing past rather than dropping a gear and going. For a family carrying people and bags in summer heat, that trade is the right one. You're after composure on Sheikh Zayed Road, not a stopwatch number.

Five seats or seven: pick before you book

The Outlander gives you three rows, but the way to think about it is a generous five-seater with a bonus. Up front and across the middle row, space is genuinely good, two adults and three in the back without anyone grumbling on the way to the terminal. The third row folds up from the boot floor and is best kept for kids or short trips. It's the seat for the extra two cousins to the mall, not for adults on a day out to Hatta.

Luggage is the catch that follows from that. Seven seats up leaves about 330 litres of boot, fine for soft bags but not a wall of hard cases. Drop the third row and the load space opens right up for five people and a full week of luggage. So decide your setup in advance: five travelling with everything, or seven travelling light. If you genuinely need a packed boot and all three rows at once, this size of SUV won't manage it and a larger seven-seater is the better rental.

Fuel stops over a week

The 55-litre tank and roughly 8.9 litres per 100 km give a real-world range close to 600 km. For most renters that means one fill covers a week of normal use, with maybe a top-up if you're doing daily airport runs or a longer trip out of town. The CVT leans toward economy, so even with the AC working hard in traffic you're not watching the gauge drop in alarm. It's a relaxed car to run, which suits the way most people actually use it here.

Keeping the cabin cool

A tall SUV with this much glass soaks up the sun, so parked through a Dubai afternoon the cabin gets seriously hot by the time you come back to it. Open the doors for a moment before loading kids in. With the AC going, the front and middle vents drop the temperature to comfortable within a few minutes, and rear vents keep the second row in the cold air too. The third row is the furthest from the vents, so on a baking afternoon it warms up last and cools slowest, another reason to keep it for short hops rather than long sun-soaked drives.

Parking and clearance around town

When you do bring it into the city, the 4.71-metre length is manageable. It fits standard mall and tower bays without the careful shuffling a full-size seven-seater demands, and the high driving position helps you place it in a crowded car park. The 211 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai's harsher speed bumps and steep basement ramps without scraping, so you're not crawling over every hump. The turning circle copes with Marina U-turns, though it's a midsize SUV, so it's never going to thread gaps like a hatchback.

A quick note on the costs that fall to you. Salik tolls are charged to the renter at each gantry, and any RTA fines during the rental are yours, so mind the limits on the highway you'll be using a lot. Children under four need a child seat by law, which we can supply on request.

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

Rent the Outlander 2023 if your week leans on highway miles and airport runs, you want a quiet, comfortable midsize SUV, and you're treating the third row as occasional rather than daily. It's the easy cruiser of the family-SUV class here: composed at speed, light at the pump, simple to park for its size. Look elsewhere if you need a full third row and a loaded boot at the same time, where a large seven-seater is the right tool, or if soft-sand driving is on the agenda, since this is front-wheel drive and built for the road. For couples and families spending more time on the E11 than in tight side streets, it's a sensible, comfortable booking.
