You can rent the Mitsubishi Montero 2023 from us in Dubai at 18, where most of the market makes you wait until 21, and we'll bring this white seven-seat 4x4 to your door inside a couple of hours. This is the full-size Montero, a diesel body-on-frame SUV that seats seven and goes well beyond the tarmac. The case for it here is honest range and capability: a thrifty 3.2-litre diesel that does big distances cheaply, three rows for a group, and real off-road hardware for the weekend trips a soft crossover can't manage. The catch is that it's a lot of truck for everyday city errands, and we'll be clear about that.
Start with the number that decides a lot of rentals: how often you stop for fuel. The 3.2 diesel returns around 9 litres per 100 km in mixed use, and the 88-litre tank turns that into serious range. A week of city driving plus a couple of longer runs can pass on roughly one or two fills rather than a station habit, even with seven people aboard. Diesel torque does the work at low revs, so you're not flogging the engine to keep pace, and that steadiness is part of why it's cheap to feed for its size.
Under the bonnet sits a 3.2-litre turbo-diesel making 190 hp and 441 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed automatic. It's not built for sprints, and the 0 to 100 km/h run of about 9.7 seconds tells you it gathers speed steadily rather than snapping forward. In normal Dubai use that's exactly right. The torque means it pulls away cleanly, merges onto Sheikh Zayed Road without drama, and overtakes on the E11 by planning a beat ahead rather than flooring it.
The four-wheel-drive system with a low-range transfer case is the part that separates this from the crossovers. Switch to four-wheel drive for graded tracks and firm sand, drop into low range for steeper Hatta climbs or a stuck recovery, and the Montero keeps composure where a road-biased SUV would struggle.

White paint helps a little in the Dubai sun, but any parked cabin still hits oven heat by midday, so give the AC a minute with the doors open before everyone climbs in. Once moving, the system cools the big interior steadily and the rear vents keep the second row comfortable. The third row sits furthest from the cold air, which is another reason that back bench suits short hops more than a long afternoon crawl. We can pre-cool the car on delivery so the first few minutes aren't the worst part of the trip.
It's a true seven-seater, and the first two rows are roomy enough for five adults on a long drive. The third row folds out of the boot floor and is best kept for kids or short adult trips. Luggage is the real trade-off. With all seven seats up, you've room for soft bags only; fold the third row and the load area opens into a large, flat space that takes a week's suitcases or a full kit of camping and cooler boxes. So the practical week is five people with a big boot, or seven people travelling light. Seven adults with full luggage at once is the point to take a second car.
The Montero's strengths come with bulk. It's tall and long, so tight tower bays, the steep Marina ramps, and busy mall basements ask for more care than a midsize SUV would. The high seat and clear sightlines help you place it, and the 235 mm of clearance means speed bumps and ramp lips never make you wince. On the open road it's settled and quiet, happiest cruising the E11 or running out to DXB and DWC. For a week that's all city parking and short errands, though, this is more vehicle than the task needs.
You cover Salik tolls as you pass the gantries, and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, so stay within the limits on the highway. Seat belts are required in all three rows, and children under four need a child seat, which we can fit on request.
Rent the Montero 2023 if you want a seven-seat 4x4 that's cheap to run over distance and genuinely capable off the tarmac, and you value the rent-from-18 access. It's the group-and-adventure choice, strong on range, torque, and rough-ground composure. If your week is school runs, mall trips, and the airport with five aboard, an Outlander gives you the same seat count, easier parking, and a lower rate. Choose the Montero when distance and capability are the brief, not just the size.
