Most seven-seat SUVs we rent in Dubai stop where the tarmac does. The Mitsubishi Montero 2022 doesn't, and that capability is the reason to book it over a soft crossover. We'll bring this white 4x4 to your door inside a couple of hours, and you can rent it from 18 where much of the market makes you wait for 21. This is the full-size, body-on-frame Montero: a 3.2-litre turbo-diesel seven-seater with a proper low-range transfer case, built for the weekend runs to Hatta or firm desert sand that a road-biased SUV can't attempt. The trade is that it's a lot of truck for daily city errands, and we'll be straight about that.
The drivetrain is why you'd choose this car. It's full four-wheel drive with a low-range transfer case, so you switch to four-wheel drive for graded tracks and firm sand, and drop into low range for a steep Hatta climb or a stuck recovery. That hardware is the line between the Montero and the crossovers that look similar in a car park. A soft SUV will scrabble and give up where the Montero keeps its composure, and the 235 mm of ground clearance keeps the underside off the rocks and ruts that would ground a lower vehicle. If your week includes real off-road, this is the seat count and the capability in one package.

| Engine | 3.2L turbo-diesel |
| Power | 190 hp |
| Torque | 441 Nm |
| Transmission | Automatic |

| Ground clearance | 235 mm |

The diesel is tuned for torque, not sprints. It makes 190 hp but a stout 441 Nm, and that low-down pull is what you feel day to day: it moves away cleanly, merges onto Sheikh Zayed Road without fuss, and overtakes on the E11 by planning a beat ahead rather than flooring it. That same steadiness makes it cheap to feed for its size. Real economy sits around 9 litres per 100 km in mixed use, and the 88-litre tank turns that into serious range, so a week of city driving plus a couple of longer runs might pass on one or two fills rather than a station habit, even with seven aboard. For anyone doing distance, the fuel maths is a big part of the appeal.
It's a true seven-seater, and the first two rows are roomy enough for five adults on a long drive. The third row folds up out of the boot floor and is best kept for kids or short adult hops. Luggage is the real trade-off: with all seven seats up you've room for soft bags only, but fold the third row and the load area opens into a large, flat space that takes a week of suitcases or a full kit of camping and cooler boxes. So the practical week is five people with a big boot, or seven travelling light. Seven adults with full luggage at once is the point to take a second car.
White paint helps a touch in the Dubai sun, but a parked cabin still hits oven heat by midday, so give the AC a minute with the doors open before everyone climbs in. Once moving it cools the big interior steadily, and the rear vents keep the second row comfortable, though the third row sits furthest from the cold air and suits short hops more than a long afternoon crawl. We can pre-cool the car on delivery so the first few minutes aren't the worst part.
The Montero's strengths come with size. It's tall and long, so tight tower bays, the steep Marina ramps and busy mall basements ask for more care than a midsize SUV would, and the high seat and clear sightlines help you place it. On the open road it's settled and quiet, happiest cruising the E11 or running out to DXB and DWC. For a week that's all city parking and short errands, it's more vehicle than the task needs. A few rules to know: Salik tolls bill through as you pass the gantries, any RTA fine during the rental is yours, seatbelts are required in all three rows, and under-fours need a child seat, which we can fit on request.
Rent the Montero 2022 if you want a seven-seat 4x4 that's cheap to run over distance and genuinely capable off the tarmac, and the rent-from-18 access helps you. It's the group-and-adventure choice, strong on range, torque and rough-ground composure. If your week is school runs, mall trips and the airport with five aboard, an Outlander gives you the same seat count, easier parking and a lower rate. Pick the Montero when distance and real capability are the brief, not just the seven seats.
