Renters who only ever drive within Dubai will barely touch a third of the allowance, and that is fine. It is renters planning one bigger trip who get real value from a block this size, since they are not forced to ration every other day to stay under a number. At age 21 you also clear a bar some SUV rentals in this class set higher, and doorstep delivery inside two hours means you are not losing a morning to paperwork before the trip starts.

Boot, back seat and the daily load

The 2025 facelift grew the ZS in almost every direction except height, and the extra room shows up first in the boot. At 448 litres it swallows two full-size cases and a soft bag without anyone folding a seat down, which is enough for a family landing at DXB or DWC and heading straight to the car. The wheelbase stretched to 2,610 mm, and that gives the back row real knee room for two adults on a day out. Three across the back works fine for kids on the school run, but load three adults plus everyone's bags for a longer haul and it gets snug, which is the honest limit for a compact SUV this size. Parking stays easy at 4,430 mm long and 1,818 mm wide, close enough to a hatchback's footprint that Marina towers and mall multi-storeys are not a fight. Ground clearance of 160 mm handles the sharper speed bumps and steep mall ramps around the city without a scrape, but this is a front-wheel-drive road car. Keep Hatta's gravel tracks for something built for them and this one stays comfortable on tarmac.

Fuel stops, tolls and cooling the cabin

Under the bonnet is a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four making 116 hp and 150 Nm through a CVT automatic, driving the front wheels. It is tuned for smooth progress around town rather than sharp overtakes, and it never feels short of breath through Marina roundabouts or stop-start traffic. Load it up and merge onto Sheikh Zayed Road, though, and the CVT holds a high note while the car finds speed, so plan your gaps rather than expect a shove of torque to bail you out. MG quotes combined economy around 6.5 L/100km, and with a 45-litre tank that works out to a real-world range near 650 to 700 km, meaning a full 3,000 km trip needs roughly four or five fill-ups rather than a stop every other day. Salik tolls and any RTA fines land on the renter, the same as on every car we hand over, and seat belts are mandatory in every seat with a child seat required for under-fours. Inside, rear AC vents come standard on this generation, so the back seat is not waiting on air pushed through from the front once the cabin has been sitting in a car park at 45 degrees. Climb back in after an hour in the sun and the front vents pull the temperature down fast, with the rear catching up not far behind.

Who should rent it, and who should size up

Rent the MG ZS 2025 if your week includes one real trip out of the city and you would rather not do mileage arithmetic to plan it. The 3,000 km allowance, the age-21 minimum, and delivery inside two hours get you moving fast, and the boot and back seat comfortably handle a couple or a small family with airport luggage. It is a fair pick too for a younger group of renters, when some SUVs in this class ask for 25.

Size up, or look at a Kicks or a Seltos, if you regularly carry four adults on Sheikh Zayed Road and want more shove for overtaking, or if cabin polish matters more to you than a generous mileage allowance. The naturally aspirated engine here is built for calm cruising, not quick passes, and the materials inside are functional rather than plush. For a Dubai week built around one bigger trip and ordinary errands in between, the ZS's mileage deal is hard to match at this price point.
