Want six cylinders of effortless pace without leaving a deposit on the desk? We rent the Mercedes E 450 2022 in Dubai with the no-deposit option, so the whole rental sits on the car and the drive, not a held card. This is the quick one in the regular E-Class range: a 3.0-litre turbo straight-six with EQ Boost, 367 PS and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, wrapped in a four-seat convertible body. The argument here is simple. If you want the E-Class but with real overtaking muscle and the roof down on a winter evening, the E 450 is the version worth the step up from the four-cylinder cars. Here is who it suits and who should look elsewhere.
The cheaper E 200 and E 300 are smooth, quiet and fast enough for commuting. The E 450 is a different character. Its inline-six pulls cleanly from low revs and keeps pulling, and the mild-hybrid EQ Boost fills the gap when you ask for a sudden surge. You feel it most in the roll-on from 80 to 120 on Sheikh Zayed Road, where the six just gathers speed with no drama. Around 5 seconds to 100 km/h means you never plan an overtake, you just take it.
The 4MATIC all-wheel drive matters less for grip in the dry and more for how planted the car feels at speed. At a steady 120 on the E11 it sits flat and unbothered. This is a fast car that never feels like it is trying.
| Spec | Detail |

| Engine | 3.0L turbocharged inline-six petrol with EQ Boost mild hybrid |
| Power | 367 PS (270 kW) |
| Drivetrain | 4MATIC all-wheel drive |
| Transmission | 9-speed automatic |
| 0 to 100 km/h | About 5 seconds |
| Top speed | 250 km/h (limited) |

| Fuel tank | About 80 litres |

Treat the table as reference. The numbers that decide your week are the boot and the tank, and both come with honest caveats below.
This is a convertible, so be realistic. The boot holds 385 litres with the roof up, which swallows two medium cases or one large case and a couple of soft bags for a DXB or DWC run. Drop the roof and that shrinks to 310 litres, because the folded soft-top eats into the space. The practical move on an airport pickup is to keep the roof up until the cases are out, then drop it.
The two rear seats are genuine seats, not parcel shelves, but they are best for two adults on shorter hops or kids on the school run. Four adults plus a week of airport luggage is the wrong job for this car. If that is your trip, size up to a sedan or an S-Class, where boot and rear legroom both stop being a compromise.
Dubai summer is the convertible's hardest test, and you should know what you are getting. With the roof up and the AC on full, the cabin pulls down from oven-hot to comfortable within a few minutes, and the four-seat space is small enough to cool quickly once it gets going. Park in shade or a basement when you can, because a black dash in direct sun at 45C takes longer to recover than the metalwork suggests.
Roof down is a winter and early-morning pleasure, not a July-afternoon one. From about November to March, an evening cruise with the top stowed is the whole reason to rent this car over the saloon. In peak summer you will mostly drive it closed, and that is fine.
The six-cylinder is not thirsty for what it is, but it is no economy car either. Expect roughly 10 to 11 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai driving, more if you lean on it. With around an 80-litre tank, a week of city errands and a couple of highway runs is comfortably one fill. You pay for your own fuel and Salik tolls, and any RTA fines during the rental pass to you, so keep to posted limits on the E11 where the cameras are constant. Seat belts are mandatory front and rear.
For parking, this is a midsize car with a wide stance and a long door. Marina and mall bays are manageable, but leave room beside you for that long door to swing, and take ramps and speed bumps slowly. The car sits low, so a steep mall ramp wants a gentle approach.
Doorstep delivery runs 1 to 2 hours, with 250 km a day included and extra distance at 3 AED per km. Drivers from 18 qualify, payment is by card, cash, bank transfer, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the no-deposit option keeps the whole thing simple.
Rent the E 450 if you want the E-Class experience with proper pace and the option of roof-down driving in the cooler months, and you are travelling as a couple or a small group with modest luggage. The six-cylinder and 4MATIC are worth the premium over the E 200 and E 300 if effortless overtaking and a planted feel at speed actually matter to you. If they do not, the four-cylinder cars save you money and do the commute just as quietly.
If your trip is four adults with full airport cases, or you need real back-seat room, this is the wrong shape. Step up to a saloon or an S-Class and keep the convertible for the drive it is built for.
