Few cars make the case for themselves in the first 50 metres the way the McLaren 720S 2022 does. We hand this one over with 250 km a day built into the rental, which sounds modest until you remember nobody books a 720S to commute. They book it to feel the twin-turbo V8 wind up behind their shoulders and shove the car down an open road. That's what this page is about: the pace, the noise, the occasion, and being straight with you on everything the spec sheet quietly leaves out. If you want a car that hauls luggage or shrugs off a rough car park, read the last section first.
The number on paper is 710 hp from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, mounted behind the seats and driving the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch box. The number in your body is harder to describe. Past about 4,000 rpm the turbos are fully awake and the 720S stops accelerating and starts launching. The quoted 0-100 km/h is 2.9 seconds, and on a clear stretch of Sheikh Zayed Road it genuinely feels that violent, your head pinned to the rest while the next car shrinks in the mirror.
This is a driver's car, not a point-and-press one. It rewards someone who brakes early and feeds the throttle with respect, and the rear-drive layout will remind a cocky driver who's in charge. Speed enforcement here is heavy and the cameras are everywhere, so most of the 720S lives at a small fraction of what it can do. The thrill is in the access to that performance, not in using all of it on a public road.

The dihedral doors swing up and forward, and there's no pretending they don't change how every stop plays out. You park, the doors rise, and people stop walking. For a lot of renters that moment is half the reason they booked the car. Getting in takes a beat of practice because the sill is wide and the roof is low, but once you're settled the cabin wraps tight around two people.
Colour matters more on this car than most. McLaren Orange and Vermillion Red read as "supercar" from across a valet line, while Onyx Black and Storm Grey let the shape do the talking. We can't guarantee a specific colour on any given date, so tell us your preference at booking and we'll confirm what's on the fleet.
At 107 mm of ground clearance the 720S sits very low, and the front splitter sits lower still. Every steep mall ramp and aggressive speed bump is a real decision. The car has a hydraulic nose lift for exactly this, and you'll use it constantly: tap it before the ramp, let the front rise, crawl over, drop it again. Treat that button as part of normal driving here and you'll avoid the expensive scrape.
Parking takes patience too. The car is wide at 1,930 mm and long at 4,543 mm, and the low seating means you feel tight multi-storey corners more than you would in a sedan. It fits, but you'll want end spots and a slow hand. That's simply the cost of a car built this close to the ground.
Park a dark 720S in open sun and the cabin gets brutally hot, the same as any low car with a lot of glass and a tight cockpit. The AC is strong and the cabin is small, so once you're moving it pulls the temperature down quickly, but the first minute after a midday start is genuinely unpleasant. Crack the doors, let the worst of the heat out, then go. There are no rear vents because there's no rear seat: this is two seats and that's all.
On fuel, plan around real numbers. The tank holds 72 litres and city economy sits near 6.0 km/L when you're driving it the way it begs to be driven, which means frequent stops. The 673 km range is a gentle highway figure; lean on the throttle and you'll watch the gauge drop fast. For a week of short, spirited drives, expect to refuel often and budget for premium fuel.
The renter carries the running costs that come with the road. Salik tolls on your trips are yours, and any RTA fines, especially speed and radar penalties, pass straight to you, which on a car this fast is worth taking seriously. Seatbelts are mandatory, simple as that. Stricter security terms can apply to a car in this value bracket, so confirm the exact requirements with us at booking.
Does anything fit? Barely. The front load space swallows a soft holdall or a couple of small bags and little else, so a DXB or DWC airport run works only for hand luggage between two people. Bring full cases and you'll be holding them on your lap. This is not a car you load; it's a car you drive.
So here's the side I'll take. Rent the McLaren 720S 2022 if you want raw, savage acceleration, the theatre of the doors, and a week of drives that exist purely for the joy of driving. It is one of the most thrilling things we hand over, and a confident driver will love every metre of it. If you need boot space, easy parking, or a car you don't have to think about, this is the wrong choice. For long highway comfort with some pace, look at a GT car. For luggage, ramps and four seats, take an SUV. The 720S earns its keep on the drive alone, and it earns it completely.
