For the money, the Mazda CX-5 2025 feels like a more expensive car than it is, and that's the reason we put so many renters in it. We deliver it across Dubai within one to two hours, rent from 18, and include 250 km a day, enough for a week of Marina-to-Downtown errands plus a couple of longer runs without watching the odometer. The pitch isn't outright space or off-road ability. It's that you get a quiet, genuinely nice cabin and a composed 2.0-litre automatic at an economy rate. This page works out whether that quality-for-the-price trade suits your week, and who should size up instead.
Sit in the CX-5 after a week in a budget crossover and the difference lands straight away. The dashboard is clean and uncluttered, the materials feel good where your hands fall, and the driving position is low and properly sorted rather than perched up high. The bigger thing renters comment on is the quiet. At speed it keeps road and wind noise down better than the badge or the rate suggests, so a long stint on Sheikh Zayed Road or a crawl through traffic is a calmer place to be than its rivals. That refinement is the real product here, more than any single spec.
It seats five, and the front two are the best seats in the house. Two up front and two behind travel in comfort. A third adult in the middle rear is fine for an airport run but not for a long day out. If you're regularly four adults with luggage, or you need a third row, this isn't the car.
For a couple or a small family, comfortably. The boot takes two large suitcases stood upright with a couple of soft bags on top, which covers a normal DXB or DWC arrival without a fight. Drop the rear seats and it opens right up for a flat-pack run or a big grocery haul. Where it tightens is the full house: four people's worth of hard cases plus carry-ons has you stacking and improvising, and for that load a larger SUV makes more sense. Match the car to the trip and the boot is rarely the problem.

We cover this on every car because it's a real question here. Leave the CX-5 in the open at 45 degrees and the cabin bakes like any car does. The AC brings it back to comfortable within a few minutes once you're moving, faster if you crack the windows for the first thirty seconds to clear the worst of the heat. Front cooling is strong, the mid-size cabin doesn't take long to settle, and rear passengers get vents at the back of the centre console, so kids aren't left sweating on a school run. It's an effective system rather than a luxury climate setup, and it holds up through July and August.
The 2.0-litre four makes 150 hp through a smooth automatic to the front wheels. Around town it's easy and unfussed, and on the E11 it pulls cleanly to overtaking speed and then settles into a quiet cruise. Nought to 100 takes around nine seconds, brisk enough that merging is never a white-knuckle moment. Ask for a hard surge from low revs and it wants a downshift first, but for normal Dubai driving it has the measure of the traffic. It corners flatter than most SUVs its size too, with steering that tells you where the front wheels are. One honest limit: it's front-wheel drive, so this is a road car, not a dune machine. For soft sand you'd want a proper 4x4.
At a touch over 4.5 metres it's compact enough for Marina towers and mall multi-storeys without the dread that comes with a full-size SUV. U-turns on the wider roads are easy, and tight bays are manageable thanks to a clear view of the car's corners. The ground clearance is generous for a road SUV, so the speed bumps around residential clusters and the steeper mall ramps don't scrape the nose the way a low sedan does. You sit high enough to see over traffic without feeling like you're piloting a van.
The 2.0-litre is the efficient choice in the range, though in real Dubai use, AC on full and a mix of crawl and highway, you'll see consumption climb above the brochure figure. That's true of every car here in summer. With the 58-litre tank, a normal week of city driving means roughly one fill, maybe a top-up if you're doing daily airport or Abu Dhabi runs. It won't sip like a small hatch, but for an SUV that feels this good to sit in, the trade is fair. On the running side, Salik tolls are billed to you as the renter and any RTA fines pass through to you, so watch the cameras on the E11. Seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need a child seat, which we'll fit on request.
Rent the CX-5 2025 if you want a car that feels a class above its rate, and you're a couple or a small family who'd rather have a quiet, well-built cabin than maximum bulk. On a Dubai mix of city errands and highway runs it's satisfying in a way most economy SUVs aren't. Size up to a larger SUV if your week is four adults with full airport luggage or you need seven seats, and pick a proper 4x4 if dune trips are on the plan. But if it's two or three of you and you value how a car feels day to day, this is the one we'd hand you the keys to.
