The Mazda CX-3 2025 we rent in Dubai is the small crossover for someone who's tired of fighting a big SUV around the city, and we'll have one at your door inside one to two hours. At 4275 mm long it's barely bigger than a hatchback, which is the whole appeal: it slips into bays and ramps that make full-size SUVs sweat, yet you still sit up high with a clear view over traffic. This page is for the renter deciding whether a compact, well-finished crossover is the right size for a Dubai week. Our take: for one or two people who want easy parking and a cabin that feels a step above the budget set, it's an easy yes. For a family with a week of luggage, it's too small, and we'll say why.
Dubai punishes a big car in small ways all week. Marina tower ramps are steep and tight, multi-storey bays near the malls are narrow, and U-turns on a busy six-lane road want a car you can place with confidence. The CX-3 does all of that without drama. The nose is short, forward visibility is good, and you stop second-guessing the corners after a day. Park it once in a packed Dubai Mall structure and you'll understand why people downsize for a city trip.
It's all-wheel drive, which is unusual at this price and size. Don't mistake that for a desert tool. With around 150 mm of ground clearance it clears speed bumps and mall lips fine, but soft sand will still stop it. What the AWD gives you is steadier footing on a wet morning after rain and a bit more composure pulling onto loose grit at a construction edge. Useful, not transformative.
The 2.0-litre petrol makes 150 hp through a six-speed automatic. It's not quick, but it's willing, and it revs cleanly when you ask. Around town it's the right amount of car. On Sheikh Zayed Road it settles into a 120 cruise without strain and has enough in reserve for a clean overtake. Top speed is quoted at 195 km/h, which you'll never approach here, so treat it as a number for the table rather than a reason to book.
What stands out more than the pace is the cabin. The dashboard is clean, the screen sits high where your eyes already are, and the materials feel better than the segment usually bothers with. After a week in a basic rental, the difference is obvious the moment you climb in.

Here's the honest limit. The CX-3 has one of the smaller boots in its class, so plan for one large case plus a soft bag, not two big hard shells side by side. A couple flying into DXB with a check-in bag each can make it work, though one may ride on the rear seat. Fold the 60/40 bench and the floor opens up enough for a flat-pack run or a single big shop.
The rear seat is tight too. Two adults fit for a short hop, but legroom behind a tall driver is mean, and three across is a squeeze nobody enjoys. None of that matters for a couple or a solo driver with the odd passenger. For four adults moving around daily, you'll feel it fast.
This decides your July mornings. The CX-3's small cabin is an advantage when the car has been baking at 45 degrees, because there's simply less air to cool. Crack the doors for a few seconds to dump the worst of it, then let the front vents run, and it's comfortable within a couple of minutes. There are no separate rear vents, but in a cabin this compact the cold air reaches the back anyway. The 44-litre tank and roughly 7 L/100 km mean you fill up once across a normal week of errands and a couple of airport runs, not every other day. Salik tolls run on your account while you have the car, and any RTA fines on the road come back to you, so drive it like it's yours.
Rent the CX-3 2025 if you're one or two people who want a smart, easy-to-park crossover with a nicer cabin than the price suggests, plus the small bonus of all-wheel grip for those rare slippery mornings. It's the right tool for city driving and the occasional highway run. Just go in clear about the boot and the rear seat. If you're carrying four adults or arriving with a stack of suitcases, size up to a CX-5 or a larger crossover. And if your week involves real sand, take a proper 4x4 instead. For couples and solo renters who value easy parking and a good cabin, the CX-3 is a quietly satisfying pick.
