We hand over the Lexus RC 2021 to renters who want a coupe that looks expensive and feels calm, and you can take it on the no-deposit option in Dubai if you'd rather not tie up cash. This is the RC 300, the 2.0-litre turbo version, and it sets out to be a comfortable, beautifully built two-door rather than a hard-edged sports car. That distinction decides whether it's the right rental for you. If you want quiet quality, a plush cabin and a car that draws looks at the valet, it delivers. If you want a back seat people can actually use, look elsewhere.
The RC is comfort-led, and once you accept that, it makes a lot of sense. The turbo four sends 245 horsepower to the rear wheels through a smooth automatic, and it'll do 0 to 100 in about 7.5 seconds. That's brisk without being dramatic. What you notice more is the refinement: the cabin shuts out road noise, the ride stays settled over Dubai's patchy surfaces, and the materials feel like they cost something.
So it cruises better than it carves. On a fast sweeping road it's composed and quiet, exactly what you want for a relaxed week. Push it hard through tight corners and you feel the weight; it leans on comfort, not sharpness. For most renters that's the right trade. If you specifically want the car to feel alive in your hands, a sportier coupe will scratch that itch better.

Four seats, but read that honestly. The front is roomy and supportive, the kind of place you're happy to spend an hour in airport traffic. The rear two seats are a coupe's rear seats: fine for a short hop with kids or for bags, awkward for grown adults on anything longer. Getting back there means folding a front seat and ducking under that low roof.
The boot holds roughly 295 litres, which sounds tighter than it lives. One large suitcase plus a soft holdall is realistic, or two medium cases at a squeeze. For a couple flying into DXB with a case each and carry-ons, it works. For four people and four big bags, it doesn't, and no amount of clever packing changes that. That's the coupe tax.
Leave any car parked at 45 degrees and the cabin turns into an oven. The RC's saving grace is a small, well-sealed interior that the climate system cools quickly once you're moving, with strong front vents doing the heavy lifting. Give it a couple of minutes with the fan up before you expect comfort. Rear passengers feel it slightly later, which matters less here since the back seats rarely carry adults anyway. For two people up front, it copes with a Dubai summer without complaint.
This is where the RC earns its keep. On Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 it's quiet and stable at speed, happy to sit at the limit and overtake without drama. Long airport runs to DXB or DWC pass in comfort. The downside is the same thing that makes it look good: it sits low. Steep mall ramps and aggressive speed bumps need a slow, square approach, and you'll learn to ease the nose over the worst ones. Ground clearance is around 135 mm, so this is a car you place carefully, not one you bounce over anything.
Parking takes a little care too. The RC is wide and the rear visibility through that sloping glass isn't generous, so tight multi-storey bays reward patience and the camera. Nothing about it is hard, but it's a coupe, and it asks you to think about where you put it.
A few Dubai rules sit on you, not us. Salik tolls run up automatically as you pass the gantries, and they're the renter's cost. Any RTA fines during your rental pass to you as well. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat. None of this is unusual, but it's worth knowing before you set off.
The 2.0 turbo isn't thirsty for a car this size. Expect somewhere around 10.7 litres per 100 km in mixed driving, more if you sit in crawling traffic with the AC working hard. On the roughly 66-litre tank that's near 600 km of range, so a typical week of city errands and the odd highway run means filling up maybe once. Fuel here is cheap, so the RC is inexpensive to keep moving relative to how premium it feels.
Rent the RC 2021 if you want a good-looking, dependable luxury coupe for stylish cruising, valet arrivals and comfortable highway miles, with two people and modest luggage. It's quiet, well made and easy to live with, and the cabin makes every drive feel like an occasion.
Skip it if you need real back-seat space or boot room. For four adults and their bags, a sedan or SUV is the honest choice. And if your priority is a coupe that feels sharp and playful through corners rather than smooth and calm, a more focused sports car will suit you better. The RC knows what it is: comfort and class first, theatrics second.
