Rent Kia Sportage 2023 in Dubai

Most Dubai SUV rentals want you to be 21 before they hand over the keys, and plenty still ask for 25. The Kia Sportage 2023 doesn't. It rents here from age 18, which puts it among the few five-seat SUVs in this class open to a younger driver or a first-time renter without years of driving history behind them. We deliver it to your door in one to two hours rather than making you queue at a counter. Age isn't the only number worth knowing before you book, though. This Sportage's mileage allowance works differently from most of its rivals, and that's the argument this page settles first.

The mileage deal, and what it's worth

Most rental cars in this class quote a daily distance cap, something like 250 km that resets every morning. This Sportage does it differently: the allowance is 4,500 km for the whole booking, not per day, and anything past that costs AED 1 a kilometre. That single flat number changes how you should think about the car depending on how long you're keeping it.

Book it for a long weekend and 4,500 km is more than you'll use, even with a run down to Abu Dhabi and back. Over a two-week stay it works out to roughly 320 km a day, still generous for school runs, mall trips and the odd highway drive. Stretch the booking to a full month and the math tightens to around 150 km a day, fine for ordinary errands but worth watching if you're covering a long commute daily. The AED 1 per km rate on anything over the limit is steeper than some desks charge, so keep half an eye on the odometer on a longer hire.

The age-18 minimum is the more unusual part of the deal. A valid licence and the standard pickup documents still apply, but the desk doesn't ask you to be 21 or 25 first, which rules plenty of comparable SUVs out for a younger renter. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental stay the renter's responsibility either way, standard for this class.

Boot, back seat and the daily load

543 litres with the seats up is a genuine two-suitcase boot, the kind that swallows a family's checked luggage for an airport run without anyone folding a seat down first. Fold the rear bench flat and the floor opens up enough for a supermarket run that fills a trolley twice over, or a flat-pack wardrobe box a hatchback would turn away. The back seat itself fits two adults with knee room to spare, and holds a third only for the short hop between a mall and a hotel.

This row rides on the long-wheelbase body, 4.66 metres nose to tail and 1.87 metres across the mirrors, noticeably bigger than the shorter Sportage sold in some export markets. That extra length is worth remembering in a tight multi-storey. A narrow bay in Marina or JLT rewards a slow, careful line rather than a confident swing in. Ground clearance of 181 mm takes the sharper speed bumps around villa compounds and mall ramps in stride, though it's still front-wheel drive on road tyres, so leave Hatta's tracks and any soft sand to something built for them. Ours comes in grey, a colour that hides Dubai's dust better than white does between washes.

Running cost, heat and the cabin

Under the bonnet is a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four running on regular petrol rather than anything premium, and it doesn't carry the turbo lag some smaller downsized engines show off the line. The official combined figure is 7.7 to 8 litres per 100 km. Add Dubai's stop-start traffic and an AC unit working through a hot afternoon, and real-world consumption climbs to somewhere around 10 to 11. Work that against the 54-litre tank and you're looking at 500 to 550 km before the fuel light comes on, which for most renters means one trip to the pump in a normal week.

The cabin doesn't take long to cool for an SUV this size. Once the fan is moving air, the front vents pull the temperature down fast, and a car left in an open lot at 45 degrees feels normal again within a few minutes of driving. Not every grade confirms rear vents, so if the back seat needs its own airflow on a longer trip, check before you book, and use shade at the parking stage rather than counting on the AC to undo an hour of direct sun.

Who should rent it, and who should size up

Rent this Sportage if the age-18 minimum is the deciding factor, or if the trip is short and busy enough that a lump-sum 4,500 km works harder for you than a daily cap would. It suits a couple or a small family managing city driving, school runs and the occasional airport pickup, and the cabin feels a class above what the rental rate suggests.

Look at something smaller if it's one or two people running light errands on a tight budget. A Picanto or a Seltos gets that job done for less rent, less fuel, and an easier time finding a spot in a packed basement. Look at something bigger if six or seven people need seats, since no folding trick turns this into more than a five-seater, or if the booking stretches past a month, where the flat mileage allowance tightens up against a daily reset. And if the plan includes soft sand or a run out to Hatta, this front-wheel-drive Sportage should come off that list. Book a proper 4x4 instead.
