Need a compact SUV with room for a real family week, and we'll bring the Kia Sportage 2023 to your door in Dubai with payment sorted on delivery. Cards, cash, Apple Pay, Google Pay, even a bank transfer or crypto if that's how you move money. No scramble for a specific card at handover. What you're renting is a roomy, well-equipped SUV with a big boot, a high seating position, and enough modern tech that nobody in the car feels short-changed. The question this page settles is whether that space and comfort are worth it for your week, or whether you'd be better off sizing up to seven seats or down to something smaller for the parking.
This generation of Sportage is bigger inside than the badge suggests. Four adults sit without negotiating knee room, and the back bench is flat enough that three across works for shorter hops, which matters when you've got kids and a grandparent along. The seating position is high, so you get that SUV view over traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the doors open wide for fitting a child seat without a wrestling match.
It is five seats, though, and that's the honest limit. If your group is six or seven, or you regularly carry three child seats abreast, this is the wrong car. Look at a proper seven-seater instead. For two adults and two or three kids, the Sportage has the space without the bulk of a full-size SUV.
This is where the Sportage earns its keep for a family week. The cargo area is one of the largest in the compact class, and it swallows real luggage. Two large suitcases plus a couple of soft bags and a stroller fit with the rear seats up, which covers a DXB airport run for a family of four without anyone holding a bag on their lap.
Drop the rear seats and you've got a near-flat load floor for a mall haul, flat-pack furniture, or a few weeks of supplies. For a relocating family or a long stay where you're buying and hauling, that flat floor is the difference between one trip and three. If your luggage is the deciding factor, this car is built for it.

The table is the reference. What it doesn't tell you is how the car actually feels for a Dubai week, so here's the rest.
The 2.5L makes 187 hp through an 8-speed automatic, and around town that's a relaxed, easy drivetrain. The gearbox is smooth, the throttle is light, and parking-lot crawling is effortless. For the school run, mall trips, and ordinary city errands, it has more than enough.
Push it on the open road and the character changes. It's a tall, heavy SUV, so it builds speed steadily rather than urgently. Cruising at 120 on the E11 it's quiet and stable, and overtaking happens with a bit of planning rather than a stab of the pedal. If you want a Sportage that feels eager when you bury the throttle, that's not this engine's job, and for most renters it doesn't need to be. The FWD version is fine for everything most people do in Dubai. The AWD is only worth choosing if you're heading onto soft tracks, and even then the extra 30 mm of clearance matters more than the driven rear wheels.
The 54-litre tank and the relaxed engine mean you're not living at the pump. In mixed city and highway driving expect somewhere around 9 to 11 km/L, which is honest for a petrol SUV this size in stop-and-go heat with the AC working hard. That gives you comfortably more than 500 km on a fill. For a typical week of errands, a couple of airport runs and the odd longer drive, one or two stops at the pump is the reality. Fuel here is cheap, so the running cost stays low.
The AC is one of this car's strong points. The cabin is well-sealed and the front vents pull a parked, baking interior down fast, which is what you want when you climb in at 45°C after the car has sat in the sun. There are rear vents too, so kids in the back aren't left to roast while the front gets cool. On a July afternoon that's not a luxury, it's the difference between a calm drive and a miserable one.
At 4.66 metres it's a mid-size footprint, so multi-storey bays and Marina ramps are manageable, though it's longer than a hatch and you'll use the reversing camera in tight spots. Ground clearance of 180 mm on the FWD clears speed bumps and mall ramps without scraping, and the AWD's 210 mm gives you margin for a rough track or a kerb-heavy car park.
A few Dubai basics. Salik tolls run on the account and pass to you as the renter, and any RTA fines during the rental are yours too, so watch the limits. Seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need a child seat, which the wide rear doors make easy to fit.
Rent the Sportage 2023 if you're a couple or a small family who wants space, a big boot, a high view and a comfortable, easy drive for a Dubai week, without paying for a full-size SUV. It's one of the better value picks in its class for exactly that job, and the cabin comfort and cargo room are where it justifies itself.
Size up to a seven-seater if you regularly carry six or more, or three child seats side by side. Drop down to a hatchback if it's just one or two of you doing city errands and you'd rather have the easiest possible parking and the lowest fuel bill. And if your priority is a quick, eager drive rather than space, this isn't the SUV that delivers it. For everyone in between, the Sportage is a comfortable, sensible week on the road.
