Need a three-row family SUV for a Dubai week without the deposit dance? We hand over the Kia Sorento 2025 with flexible payment accepted on delivery, so you settle up when the keys change hands. This is the most refined Sorento yet, a midsize seven-seater with a modern cabin, a high driving position and a genuine third row. The question this page answers is simple: is the Sorento the right family pick for your week here, or do you actually need a bigger boot or a real desert 4x4? We'll be honest about where it shines and where it doesn't.
The Sorento sits in that useful gap between a five-seat crossover and a full-size body-on-frame SUV. It's tall enough to give the driver a commanding view of traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road, yet short enough at 4,815 mm to slot into normal mall bays without a three-point fight. Under the bonnet is a 3.5L V6 petrol making 268 hp through an 8-speed automatic, with all-wheel drive as standard on the GCC car. That's a smooth, comfort-led setup. It pulls cleanly up to highway speed and overtakes without drama, but it isn't quick in a stopwatch sense and doesn't pretend to be. You buy this car for the cabin, the seats and the calm, not for the traffic-light sprint.

Here's the part most rental listings gloss over. The Sorento's third row is real, but it's sized for kids and short hops, not four adults crossing the emirate. Two children buckle in happily back there for a run to the beach or a cousin's place across town. Put a grown adult in row three for an hour and they'll ask you to swap. So picture how your group actually splits. Two adults up front, two or three kids in the middle, and a couple of small ones in the back is the sweet spot. The middle row slides and reclines, which buys you legroom flexibility most people don't expect in a midsize SUV.
The flip side is the boot. With all seven seats up, cargo space is tight, enough for a few soft bags or the weekly shop, not a stack of hard cases. Fold the third row and it opens right up, easily swallowing several large suitcases for an airport run with five aboard. So the honest rule is this: seven seats or full luggage, rarely both at once. If your trip is five people plus a week of cases from DXB or DWC, you're comfortable. Seven people plus all their bags, and you'll be playing Tetris.
In a Dubai summer the AC matters more than horsepower, and the Sorento copes well with the high 40s. The big cabin takes a moment longer to drop from oven temperature than a small hatch would, simply because there's more air to chill, but the front vents are strong and there are rear vents to push cold air back to the middle row. That second-row supply is the detail that keeps kids from melting on a long crawl up the highway. Park in shade where you can, crack the windows for ten seconds before the AC catches up, and the interior settles quickly. The third row gets less direct airflow, which is another reason to keep that bench for shorter legs of the day.
At 176 mm of ground clearance the Sorento clears speed bumps and mall ramps without scraping, and the AWD gives you sure footing on the occasional patch of soft ground or a sandy car park edge. That said, it's a road-and-light-track SUV, not a dune machine. It'll handle a graded desert road or a beach approach, but for real dune bashing you want a body-on-frame 4x4 with low range. On tarmac it's in its element, settled and quiet at cruising speed, easy to place in lane and relaxed on the long DXB or DWC runs.
Parking is straightforward for its size. The high seating and camera make tight multi-storey bays manageable, and U-turns don't feel like wrestling. A couple of Dubai admin notes worth stating plainly: Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need a child seat. None of that is unique to this car, but it's the desk's job to remind you.
Real city economy lands around 8.0 to 9.0 km/L with the V6, which is honest for a tall AWD seven-seater in stop-and-go traffic. With the 67-litre tank that's a usable 640 to 740 km of range, so a normal week of school runs, mall trips and the odd airport pickup means roughly one fill-up, maybe two if you're racking up highway miles. It's not the most frugal thing we rent, and a smaller crossover will sip less, but for the space you get it's reasonable.
Rent the Sorento if you're a family of five to seven who values a roomy, modern cabin, a high view and an easy highway manner, and you can live with the seven-up boot being modest. It's a strong value family pick for a Dubai week, premium-feeling without a premium-SUV badge. Skip it if it's just two or three of you and luggage is the priority, since a five-seat SUV gives you far more boot for the same footprint. And skip it if your week is built around serious dune driving, where a proper body-on-frame 4x4 earns its keep. For most families who want space, comfort and the flexibility of a third row when they need it, the Sorento is the easy, sensible call.
