Kia Sorento 2025 - start from 423 AED / day

The Kia Sorento 2025 is the SUV we hand to families who want space and calm, not pace, and we deliver it anywhere in Dubai within one to two hours with payment accepted on the doorstep. It's a three-row, seven-seat midsize SUV running a 2.5-litre petrol engine and an automatic gearbox, tuned for a smooth, unhurried week rather than a quick one. The single decision this page settles is whether that relaxed seven-seat layout fits how your family travels, or whether you actually need a bigger boot or a proper dune machine. We'll be honest about both edges.

What the 2.5 engine is and isn't

The 2.5-litre petrol makes 179 hp through an automatic, and the character is the thing to understand before you book. It pulls away cleanly, reaches highway speed without drama, and gets from rest to 100 km/h in around 10.3 seconds, with a top speed of 195 km/h you'll never need on the E11. This is an engine built for comfort, not the traffic-light sprint. Loaded with people and bags and climbing a flyover, it asks you to plan an overtake a moment earlier, which is normal for a seven-seater at this rate. Buy it for the cabin, the seats and the easy cruise, and it delivers exactly that.

The third row, and the luggage trade

Seven seats sounds like seven adults. In a midsize SUV it rarely is, and the Sorento is honest about it. The first two rows are excellent, with real legroom and wide doors that make car seats easy to clip in. The third row is genuinely usable for kids or for adults on a short hop, the run to the restaurant or across town, rather than four hours to the east coast.

The boot is where families get caught out. With all seven seats up, the space behind the third row is tight, enough for a few soft bags or a week's groceries, not a stack of hard cases. Fold the third row flat and it opens into a big, square, properly useful five-seater boot that swallows a family's luggage with ease. So the rule is simple: seven seats or full luggage, rarely both at once. Five people plus a week of cases from DXB or DWC is comfortable. Seven people plus all their bags, and you'll be playing Tetris with the suitcases.

Heat and keeping the back rows cool

In a Dubai summer the AC matters more than the engine, and the Sorento copes well with the high 40s for its size. A big cabin takes a moment longer to drop from oven temperature than a hatch would, simply because there's more air to chill, but the front vents are strong and the rear vents push cold air back to the middle row. That second-row supply is what keeps kids from melting on a long crawl up the highway. Park in shade where you can, crack the windows for ten seconds before the AC catches up, and the interior settles quickly. The third row gets less direct airflow, which is one more reason to keep that bench for shorter legs of the day.

Driving and parking it in Dubai

Around 180 mm of ground clearance clears speed bumps, mall ramps and raised community entrances without scraping, and the high seat gives you a commanding view over traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road. It's a road-and-light-track SUV, fine on a graded desert road or a beach approach but not built for soft sand, where a body-on-frame 4x4 with low range earns its keep. On tarmac it's settled and quiet, easy to hold in lane on the long DXB or DWC runs.

Parking is straightforward for the size. The cameras and high seating make tight multi-storey bays manageable, and it slots into standard mall and tower bays that defeat a full-size SUV. A few admin notes worth stating plainly: Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, seat belts are required in every seat, and children under four need a child seat, which matters on a seven-seat booking.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Sorento 2025 if you're a family of five to seven who values a roomy, modern cabin, a high view and an easy highway manner, and you can live with the seven-up boot being modest. It's a comfortable, sensible family pick for a Dubai week, premium-feeling without a premium-SUV price. Skip it if it's just two or three of you and luggage is the priority, since a five-seat SUV gives you far more boot for the same footprint. Skip it too if your week is built around serious dune driving, where a proper 4x4 belongs. For most families who want space, comfort and a third row for the days they need it, the Sorento is the easy choice.
