Most seven-seaters in this price bracket give you a strained four-cylinder and ask you to live with it. The Kia Sorento 2024 doesn't, and that's the reason to rent one in Dubai. We bring it to your door, usually inside 1 to 2 hours, with a 3.5L V6 putting out 268 hp through an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. That powertrain is the whole argument here: this is a family SUV that pulls seven people and their bags up to highway speed without drama, then settles into a quiet cruise. The decision this page helps you make is whether the V6 and the AWD are worth it for your week, and where the third row stops being a real seven-seat solution.
A 3.5-litre V6 is a rare thing at this rate, and on Dubai roads it earns its place. Loaded with passengers and luggage, the Sorento merges onto Sheikh Zayed Road without that frantic, flat-out feeling you get from a smaller engine doing the same job. Overtaking a slow truck on the Hatta road is a quick squeeze of the throttle, not a planning exercise. The 8-speed auto shifts cleanly and keeps the engine relaxed at a 120 cruise, so the cabin stays calm on a long run to Abu Dhabi or out to the mountains.
All-wheel drive comes standard on this car, which adds confidence on a graded desert track or a wet ramp during the winter rains. It's not a dune machine, so leave deep soft sand to a proper off-roader. For tarmac, light tracks, and the occasional gravel detour, the AWD does exactly what a family needs.

The first two rows are the comfortable part. Two adults up front have plenty of room, and the second row is wide enough for three across or for adults to stretch out on a long airport run. The third row is where you need to be honest with yourself. It's genuinely useful for kids and for short hops across town, and two children will be happy back there. Two grown adults for the full run to DXB will be folding their knees and watching the clock.
Luggage works the same way. With all three rows up, you've got room for a couple of carry-ons and the weekly shop, not a stack of hard cases. Fold the third row flat, which is how most families will run it day to day, and the boot opens up enough for four to six large suitcases. If you need seven seats and a full set of cases at the same moment, the maths doesn't add up and you should size up to something like a Palisade.
This matters every day from May to September. A cabin this big, left in a mall car park at 45 degrees, gets brutally hot, and the AC has real work to do. The first couple of minutes after you climb in are warm while the system clears the heat, so crack the windows for ten seconds before you set off and it cools faster. The payoff is rear vents that actually reach the second and third rows, which is what keeps kids in the back comfortable on a school run. Once it's cold, it holds even in stop-and-go Marina traffic.
A V6 this size drinks more than a small crossover, and you should budget for that. The 67-litre tank with a city figure around 8 to 10 km/L means one fill on a normal week, maybe two if you're doing daily airport runs with a full load. Range works out to roughly 655 to 880 km depending on how much highway you do, so a Dubai to Abu Dhabi return on one tank is comfortable. The lighter your right foot and the more open road you cover, the closer you get to the top of that range.
Two cost notes before you drive. Salik tolls are charged to you each time you pass a gate, and any RTA fines during the rental pass to the renter, so the speed cameras on the E11 are your responsibility. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat, including the third row, and children under four need a child seat, which we can fit on request.
At 4810 mm long and 1900 mm wide, this is a proper midsize SUV, so the tight bays in older Marina towers and some mall basements need a bit of care. The parking sensors and reversing camera take the guesswork out of a snug spot, but it isn't a hatch you can fling into any gap. The 175 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai's speed bumps and mall ramps without scraping, and the high seating position gives you a clear view across six lanes of traffic.
Rent the Sorento 2024 if you want V6 power and standard all-wheel drive in a seven-seater, and you're a family of four to six who'll use two rows daily and the third row for kids or the carpool. The engine is the reason to choose it over a four-cylinder rival, and it does the everyday Dubai jobs without breaking a sweat.
Size up to a Palisade if you genuinely carry seven adults plus luggage on the same trip. Drop to a five-seat crossover if it's just two of you running errands, because then you're paying for fuel and seats you won't touch. For the family in the middle who wants real pulling power, the Sorento is the smart pick.
