Kia Sorento 2021 - start from 271 AED / day

Need a third row that families actually use without paying full luxury-SUV money? We hand over the Kia Sorento 2021 across Dubai, usually within 1 to 2 hours of your booking, so the car turns up wherever you are rather than you queuing at a desk. This is the value seven-seater: a real family SUV with a usable third row, a sensible cabin, and a 3.5L V6 that doesn't feel out of breath on Sheikh Zayed Road. The decision this page settles is simple. The Sorento fits most families well, but if you regularly carry four adults plus airport luggage, or you need a wide, cosseting cabin, you'll want to size up.

What the Sorento actually is

A midsize SUV with seven seats and a V6 that suits how people drive here. The 272 hp on tap means merging onto the E11 or overtaking a slow truck on the Hatta road is a non-event, and the 8-speed automatic keeps the engine quiet at a cruise. It's front-wheel drive in standard form with an all-wheel-drive option, so think tarmac and the occasional graded track, not deep dune work. For school runs and a week of airport pickups, that's the right amount of car.

Will my family and luggage fit?

Here's the honest version. The first two rows are genuinely comfortable, with the second row roomy enough for adults on a long airport run. The third row is the catch. It's fine for kids and short trips, and two children will be happy back there, but two grown adults for an hour to DXB will be folding their knees and asking how much longer. Treat it as a five-plus-two, not a true seven-adult cabin.

The boot follows the same rule. With all three rows up, you get enough space for a few soft bags and the weekly shop, not a stack of hard suitcases. Drop the third row and the load space opens up properly, which is how most families will run it most of the week. If your trip is seven people and a full set of cases at the same time, the maths doesn't work and you should look at a Palisade.

Heat, AC, and the parked-cabin problem

Dubai summers sit in the high 40s, and a midsize SUV left in a mall car park gets brutally hot inside. The Sorento's AC has real work to do because the cabin is large, so the first few minutes after you climb in are warm while the system pulls the heat out. Crack the windows for ten seconds before you set off and it clears faster. The payoff is rear vents that actually reach the second and third rows, which matters when kids are in the back and the front blower alone never gets there. Once it's cold, it stays cold even in stop-and-go traffic.

Fuel, Salik, and the running cost

The 67-litre tank and a city figure of 8.5 km/L mean a V6 this size will visit the pump more than a small crossover. On a normal week of city driving you'll fill up once, maybe twice if you're doing daily airport runs, and the highway figure of 11.9 km/L stretches things on longer trips. Range is rated up to 599 km, so a Dubai-to-Abu Dhabi return on one tank is comfortable.

Two cost notes before you drive. Salik tolls are charged to you each time you pass a gate, and RTA fines pass through to the renter, so the E11 speed cameras are your problem, not ours. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat, including the third row, and children under four need a child seat, which we can fit on request.

Parking and city manoeuvres

At 4810 mm long and 1900 mm wide, the Sorento is a proper midsize SUV, so the tight bays in older Marina towers and some mall basements need a bit of care. It's not unwieldy, and the parking sensors and camera take the guesswork out of reversing into a snug spot, but it isn't a city hatch you can fling into any gap. The 176 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai's speed bumps and mall ramps without scraping, and it sits high enough to give you the commanding view that makes lane changes on a six-lane road easy.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Sorento if you're a family of four to six who wants V6 punch, a comfortable two rows, and an occasional third row for the kids or the school carpool, all without paying for a full-size luxury SUV. It's the value pick in its class and it does the everyday Dubai jobs well.

Size up to a Palisade if you genuinely carry seven adults or need that third row plus a full boot of luggage on the same trip. Drop down to a five-seat crossover if it's just two of you running errands, because then you're paying for fuel and seats you won't use. For everyone in between, the Sorento is the smart middle.
